"WHY IS THIS SO HARD!?"

They had filmed each part of the new Obsession music video many times over.

Perfecting each part and assuring the quality of the video and moves were clear and sharp.

Yet for some odd reason after practically burning each move into his brain Jongdae just couldn't get it right.

Their comeback was soon and if he didn't get back on it he'd disappoint the Exo-L's.

That in itself is a punishment worse than the manager or the other members could deal out.

The other members had all gone home, the only ones left in the brightly lit practice room being Jongdae and Chanyeol.

"You're doing great, don't worry about it."

Jongdae looks over at Chanyeol, his eyes running across the boy's soft features and his even softer smile.

"I'm going to work harder."

He smiles back at Chanyeol, his smile portraying a look of confidence despite the slight tear of his ego.

"Ok"

Chanyeol nods before standing.

"I'm gonna go get some snacks and water, don't work too hard."

He waved as he walks out, the door clicking softly behind him.

Sighing Jongdae gets back into position, using a small remote to cue the music.

He starts with confidence, executing the moves with ease.

That is until he stumbles, tripping over his own foot as he crashed onto the floor.

A burst of pain radiates through his body, white flashing across his vision as he lays on the floor, the air knocked from his lungs.

Gasping and heaving for breathe he slowly pulls himself up, a string of curse words following.

He grabs his head between his hands screaming, anger and raw frustration mixing together in a deadly brew.

He holds himself, nails clawing into his biceps as he digs his fingers into his skin.

Applying more pressure and drawing blood.

He doesn't even look up when the door is flung open.

Not when Chanyeol yells his name.

Not when he's pulled into his lap and cradled.

Not when Chanyeol holds his hands in his.

He only stares ahead, his mind going blank as his brain fogs.

"I can't."

"Y-yes you can, yes you can."

Chanyeol repeats in a small voice, moving one of his hands to gently run through Jongdae's hair.

"You can do anything Jongdae, you're more determined than all of us combined, you're so strong."

Tears brim Jongdae's eyes as he slowly turns to look up at Chanyeol.

"I'm sorry."

Chanyeol shakes his head quickly.

"No, none of this is your fault, don't you dare apologize."

Jongdae looks back and forth between both of Chanyeol's eyes, reaching up to wipe away the tears dotting his cheeks.

"I'm sorry."

Chanyeol leans forward, burying his face into Jongdae's shoulder as his body shudders with a weak laugh.

"You're amazing."

Jongdae's lips part slightly as tears flow from his unblinking eyes, his grip tightening on Chanyeol as he hugs him closer.

"You're so powerful, and graceful. And when you perform it's like magic. Sometimes I stay up late thinking about how I could be more like you. To work harder, and be more consistent and to just be better. But I realized that I don't need to be more like you because I'm just going to fail."

He sets his chin on Jongdae's shoulder, petting his hair.

"Because my technique, my mistakes, they're what make me me and that's the most important thing when it comes to giving The Exo-L's a good performance. Just being myself and trying my best regardless."

Jongdae lifts his head, looking over at the mirror that reflects their embraced position.

His eyes squinting at his pink, flushed face before looking at Chanyeol's reflection, his mirror image's lips curled into a smile despite the situation.

"Chanyeol?"

"Hm?"

"Thank you."

Chen is getting married and having a baby!! It's so cute I'm still crying, exo are gonna be the best uncles, I'm not okay
