Summer had come and gone, with that a large pallet of brilliantly colored leaves had decided to fall into Johnny's backyard.

Thankfully a short fence divided their yard so not all the leaves gathered on their side.

He takes a sip from his mug of coffee before dumping the rest out and rinsing the cup.

Renjun was asleep and this was prime yard work hour.

Not bothering to change from his grey sweatpants and black t-shirt he merely slips silently through the sliding glass door.

Leaving it slightly cracked he grabs a pair of gloves and a rake, reluctantly beginning to work.

A surprising amount of leaves had fallen since he had last bothered to look outside and they now scattered thickly over almost anything that could hold them.

He began by sweeping them off of the small picnic table and onto the ground below before raking them into a pile.

After about an hour of raking Renjun awakes, walking outside with a small yellow blanket clutched in his arms as he rubs his eyes.

"D-daddy?"

Johnny looks up, smiling at the other.

"Yes baby?"

Renjun blinks around, his eyes taking a second to adjust to the bright light.

"What are you doing?"

Johnny leans on the rake, looking towards Renjun.

"I'm raking leaves baby, what are you doing?"

Renjun looks down at the leaves before back at Johnny, eyes widening as he takes a large leap in the huge pile.

"RENJUN!"

Renjun giggles, rolling in the leaves as the moister beneath the pile sets his onesie and blanket.

"Renjun GET OUT!"

Renjun flinches, look up at Johnny, his eyes tearing up.

Johnny's look softens as he looks down at Renjun, soon after jumping into the pile himself and laughing with Renjun as they roll about.

"I'm sorry daddy."

Renjun whispers softly, holding onto Johnny's side as they lay still.

"It's alright baby, I overreacted."

Renjun turns to face the sky, watching as leaves continuously break off and fall to the ground.

One in particular breaks from the branch above him, colors of deep red and brown, baked orange and flecks of yellow swirl within its crinkly depth.

His eyes widen as the leaf twists and turns, flipping in the air until it lands gently on his forehead.

"It's cute daddy."

His eyes flick towards Johnny as he balances the leaf on his head.

"Just like you baby."

Johnny moves the leaf for a second, kissing his forehead before placing it back and laying down beside the boy once more.
