My Boy

"San darling, can you please come downstairs?"

Mrs. Choi releases the little button on the intercom, the sound of her voice echoing around the very large and relatively extravagant house as it traveled through the other boxes.

Mr. Choi, her husband. Was a very well off man, his work allowed him to keep them securely situated in the upper class.

But no amount of money could make up for the fact that work kept him away 85% of the time leaving the house quiet and empty emotionally as well as physically.

Breaks were few and far between, not because he couldn't take them but because he never wanted to.

Work was a sanctuary in a way that he felt perfectly at peace. His office, his company, that was Mr. Choi's domain.

A child and a wife, unfortunately were not.

Mrs. Choi snaps out of her thoughts, a wide smile spreading across her face as she watches her beautiful little ebony haired boy come running down the stairs.

"I'M HERE MOMMMYYYYY!"

He trips over his own feet on the last stair, the sleek white porcelain causing his socked feet to fly forwards as he collides into his prepared mother.

Having been used to the clumsy habits of her child, she scoops him up into her arms, placing a kiss on his nose before making her way to the large double front doors and placing him back down.

"Honey, I got you a surprise today."

San's eyes widen as he looks around quickly, his small hand eventually coming to grasp the door handle.

Mrs. Choi chuckles softly, watching as San shakes with excitement, the suspense practically killing him as he makes funny breathing sounds.

"Can I mommy? Can I see the surprise now?"

He jumps from foot to foot, eyes shifting from the door to his mother's eyes and then back.

"Go ahead my love, but be care-"

She chuckles again, her sentence being cut off by San's happy screech as he rips open the door, coming face to face with a just as excited puppy.

Puppy hybrid.

"SAN!"

Mrs. Choi runs around the couch only for the black haired boy to move the opposite way, his nose crinkling as he laughs wildly.

"FELIX GET THE COOKIES!"

Mrs. Choi jerks her head to the side, eyes scanning the kitchen off to her right before managing to find the little tawny haired dog hybrid scurrying away with the remains of her double batch of cookies.

"FELIX NO!"

She attempts to rush into the kitchen only to be tackled into the couch by her pre-teen son. His enthusiastic shouts urging the hybrid to run faster up the stairs and into their shared bedroom.

A few years had passed since the Choi family had gotten Felix. His mischievous and lively personality ensuring that the house was no longer ever quiet.

"I love you mom, thank you for the cookies."

San grins widely, kissing his mother on the cheek before jumping over the back of the couch and bolting up the stairs in pursuit of the stolen cookies.
