here's another story of my love life. ready for this one?
once upon a time long, long ago, in the summer of 2018, I met a boy at church camp. church camp boys get you. I'm telling you. And they are never, NEVER, what you expect. so this boy goes between periods of liking me and then flirting with other girls and then dating other girls and flirting with me and so on. so, after a very long while of flirting and him finally deciding he wanted to try with me, there was a long night at a party.
everyone else was inside getting drunk, but we were outside, sitting on the porch steps. talking about life, past mistakes & the good things too. he said that he wanted to open 100% open and honest because he really wanted us to be together. so the stars were bright in the sky, you could hear the laughter and chatter from the party, and, even though there were people all around, it was just us. now, this was the first night after church camp (summer of 19'), so i was low on sleep because I went home, got bad news, and cried all afternoon. so, i looked at this man, and i said "this is not me flirting in any way, shape, or form, but im tired and I'm gonna use your arm as a pillow." So I laid my head on his shoulder, and i looked at the stars and we kept talking. we got to a point in the night full of conversation where i made fun of him, and he pretended he couldn't talk anymore. I said, "what, can you not talk unless you get a kiss?" And he goes "Really?! Crap!!!" Because he didn't mean to talk. I shook my head and laughed, and this man sealed his mouth shut again. so, i put a hand on each side of his head, pulled him towards me, and gave him a peck on the lips. he looked at me, he smiled, and the night carried on. my head went back on his shoulder, my arms held his arm that my head was resting on, and we sat there. he kept looking at me with that look. you know the look. it's the look that a boy gives a girl when he loves her. girls know this look. don't let them lie to you and say they don't. all girls know the look, but usually we play dumb. so I asked him "why're you looking at me like that?" and he just got a goofy smile and said, "like what?" and so we carried on. that night, when it was time to go, we got in his car. my curfew wasn't for a little bit longer, so we parked in the parking lot of a carpet store off the highway. we sat. we talked. we listened to music. "You do the talkin'" by Chris Young came on the radio, and immediately he started freaking out. "Oh my gosh!!! this is our song!!" And as I listened, I realized it fit. we stared at the stars and into each other's eyes, and we talked all night. i gave him a peck on the lips, he drove me home, and then he got drunk & told everyone how much he loved me when he got back to the party.

now, the next time i saw this boy was a few weeks later. we went & hung out, but the best story starts when we went back to my friends house to play mario kart. while she might be a backstabbing whore now, she was a friend then, and her house was like a home to me, and her parents were less strict than mine. we went to her room, and we hooked up her wii. we got our controllers & such and we started playing. the first round, he won. i immediately called for a rematch. he was down for it. at the last minute, he slid from first place to second place, and i went from second place to first place. i threw my hands in the air, i turned around, and i screamed, "HA!!!! I WON!!!!" he looked at me with his brown, lovesick, puppy eyes, and he smiled that lazy smile that always got me, and he said, "hey you're right. you did." as he sat there looking at me, way too excited over winning a game we'd been playing since we were little, he looked at me, and he said, "oh gosh. i love you, i really do." then, his eyes got wide and he goes "Crap I didn't mean that I'm so sorry I know it's too soon I'm sorry."
later that night, he texted me and i accused him of his treacherous actions.
"you let me win," I told him.
"yes. I did let you win. but I only let you win because I know I how much you love to win and i wanted to see the look on your face when you did. and guess what, you might not like that I let you win, but seeing your face afterwards made it worth it, so be mad if you want, but I don't regret it because you had the cutest reaction"
if you can't tell, i was hung up on this boy for a very long time. however, he cheated on me enough that when he finally wanted to settle down i had problems trusting him. we never dated but he was one of my favorite "almosts". sorry for the sad ending, but that is life.
