He held her tight as she sobbed into his chest. He didn't know what happened. All he knew was that she had come to his door with a tear-stained face. He hugged her and rubbed her back as she cried.
"It'll be okay," he whispered in her ear. "I don't know what happened, but I'm here now, and I swear on my life that I'll never let anything bad happen to you."
But, of course, that's what you would want to happen. You'd want to have your Prince Charming save you from all the evils and demons that haunt you. You want the unrealistic promises of a perfect life. In the real world, you'd reapply your mascara, and walk around like nothing happened because, in the real world, everyone is supposed to act like they're okay, even if they're crying for help.
