Excerpt Seven

     They were walking side by side, hand in hand, playing along with the charade that was starting to seem less and less pretend to her every day.

"You know everything about me! I can't answer any more questions without repeating myself," he said with a laugh and a heartwrenching smile. "You know all my truths." 

"Okay then," she smiled back her signature smile. "If you're out of truths, then tell me a lie." 

     He ran his hand through his hair and guiltily looked up. "You don't want to hear a lie."

"Yes, I do," she continued, not backing down, but her smile was decreasing the more she watched him fade into a somber shade of shame. 

"Fine," he stood up a little taller and looked her in the eye. "I love you."
