The coffe shop

3rd person POV

Rantaro had just finished school and was making his way back home. Halfway through the walk he was stopped by a girl handing him a flyer for a coffee shop a few minutes away. "We just opened and would love your business!" She said excited he thanked the girl and shoved it in his pocket. Now he was almost home and was waiting at a crosswalk light. Leaning on the pole watching the cars go by then he looked to his side and saw the coffee shop. He was tired and decided to get some coffee just to get some energy. He opened the door *ring* the welcome bell rang he looked around the store it was small yet very homely with wooden tables and floors,plush couches, fairy lights going all across the store, a strong sent of vanilla, and small fake candles on the tables. He was surprisingly the only person in the store.

He made his way to the counter to look over the menu. "Welcome to the shop what would you like today?" Rantaro looked down to a small bored looking barista twirling a piece of his purple hair around his finger . "I would like a small strawberry coffee,please" "ok that will be 500 yen and name" "rantaro" the tall one said handing the small one the money the barista quickly wrote down the name and put the money in the register. Rantaro was bored so he started to make some small talk. "So uh how are you doing" "decent, you?" "Good, how long have you been working here" "a few days I'm only working here because it's my sisters store and I needed some extra money." The boy said placing a coffee on the counter "oh I see you have a flyer in your pocket I guess you've already indirectly meet her"

Rantaro took the coffee and sat at a table near the counter and took a sip. "Wow this is actually really good" " thanks avocado" the purpled hair boy said making his way out from behind the counter and pulling a chair out "do you mind?" He asked rantaro shook his head. "What's your name?" "Kokichi" "huh nice name" "thanks I got it for my birthday" rantaro laughed and he finally got to have a good look at the barista. His very curly hair that had multiple different purples in it and his eyes the same purple, his pale freckled skin, his petite frame. Rantaro also realized how adorable this boy was. He wasn't aware of how long he was staring until kokichi said "I just saw how many piercings you have they look awesome I have some but I have to take them off for school." He sighed "oh yeah my school lets me wear them and I kinda want to see yours can you put them on?" Rantaro suggested. "Sure I'll be right back!" Kokichi said excitedly and made his way to the back. Rantaro sighed and decided to let his mom know he'll be back later then usual

Hey mom I'm going to be back later I'm at a coffee shop

Mom
Ok you can stay out because it's Friday but are you only staying because you met a cute girl or boy?

Rantaro
Maybe

Aww ask for their number and bring them around sometime

Rantaro smiled a little and put his phone away. "Ok I'm done" rantaro looked up to kokichi who had a nose, lip and ear piercings. "Ooo you look really cute- I mean cool" kokichi giggled "thanks!" They talk for a little longer no one came in. "I think I should get going but can I have your number first?" Kokichi nodded "give me your phone" rantaro handed over his phone and kokichi put his number in and took a contact photo then gave the phone back. "I'll see you soon right?" "Yup I work here everyday after school!" "Where do you even go to school?" "It's across the street you'll see it if you're going this way" kokichi said pointing left. Rantaro picked up his unfinished coffee waved goodbye and left.

"Mom I'm home!" Rantaro yelled taking his shoes off and putting his bag on the floor. "Welcome home rantaro, now tell me about that person you met right now so I can appreciate their cuteness as well!" Rantaros mom said excitedly pulling him to the couch. Rantaro laughed "well his name is kokichi I think, he's a barista who makes a really good strawberry coffee, he has purple eyes and curly hair of the same color, a lip,nose, and ear piercing. Really pale skin and freckles and he's hilarious " he finished and looked over to his mom who had really wide sparkling eyes and a wide smile. "HE SOUNDS AMAZING I CANT WAIT TO MEET HIM" his mom said and hugged him tightly.

Over the next few months rantaro visited kokichi at work on Fridays and texted him whenever they could see each other in person. Over this time they were getting a bigger crush on each other. the shop was getting more customers but not to busy which was good so that he could at least talk to kokichi normally but today was slightly different. Rantaro opened the door to the shop and it had a somewhat long line and a few people sitting at tables. He got in line and noticed that no one else came in after him eventually he got to the counter. And like usual saw kokichi but he looked really stressed. "The usual rantaro?" He asked exhausted. "Yeah" by the time rantaro got his coffee he was the only one in the store kokichi walked out from behind the counter and switched the open sign to closed "my sisters might kill me for that but I don't care" he sighed rantaro brought kokichi over to one of the couches and lied him down putting his coffee on the table. "Long day?" Rantaro sat down next to him. "Yes" kokichi muttered putting his head on rantaros lap. Rantaro ran his hand through the other boy's hair. "Do you want to talk about it?"

Kokichi nodded "I didn't have school today and usually during the day my sister works and her friends hands out flyers for jobs or just advertising in general and then when I get out of school my sister hands out flyers, her friend goes home, and I work. But my sister is out of town her friend is sick so I had to work all day and today has been the busiest day I've ever had. And because I'm the only one working I couldn't have a break so I had to work sense 8 to 3 on absolutely nothing because we aren't aloud to have the coffee unless we're on break" kokichi ranted and after he finished he looked so much more relaxed. "Wow that sounds terrible if it makes you feel better I can ask my mom if you can stay at my house tonight" "that would be amazing I live with my sister and because she out I don't need to ask her, ask your mom I need to clean up tell me her answer when I'm done" kokichi said still exhausted rantaro tired to get him to sit down but he refused and went to clean the counters.

Rantaro
Hey mom do you remember kokichi?

Mom
Of course I do how can I forget someone like that

Rantaro
Well his sister is out of town so can he stay over tonight?

Mom
Yes I can't wait to meet him he sounds amazing!

Rantaro put his phone away and the place already looked perfect. "I'm done what did your mom say" "she said you can stay" "yay I need to get my stuff from the back room and we'll need to make a quick stop at my house be right back" rantaro nodded and waited at the door hands in pockets. "Ok let's go" kokichi held the door open letting rantaro through and locking the door behind them. After kokichi got some stuff he needed he looked like he was about to pass out so rantaro put him on his shoulders and kokichi fell asleep instantly. then they got to his house.

Rantaro woke up kokichi put him down then unlocked the door. "Mom we're home!" Rantaro yelled taking off his shoes and kokichi following. "Hey rantaro oh and you must be kokichi!" Rantaros mom said "yup that's me" Kokichi responses "you're so adorable you're just as Rantaro described you!" His mom said pinching Kokichi's cheeks. "Mom you going to scare him follow me kokichi let me take your bag" rantaro fought off his mom taking kokichi's bag and showing his way to his room.
"I'm sorry for her" "don't worry ran-chan!" Rantaro blushed holy fuck the nickname is adorable. "Also I don't care what you say I'm sleeping in the same bed as you" "uh sure why not"

After dinner they hung out in Rantaros room staying up till 2. "Hey Rantaro I have something to tell you" Kokichi mumbled while Rantaro did his nails. "Oh um me too" "let's say it at the same time!" "Ok 3,2,1" "I have feelings for you!" They both said at the same the few seconds after felt like hours until Kokichi piped up "wait you also have feelings for me!" Rantaro scratched the back of his neck "uh-huh" "can I kiss you?" Kokichi asked. Rantaro nodded and leaned forward. It was short but sweet and kokichi was giggling like a maniac which rantaro found adorable.
