(Late) Valentines Day

3rd person POV

Valentine's Day was a very important day to kokichi even before he met rantaro. For him, it was a day to just do basically whatever he wanted and a day to focus on and love himself more than he already did. While rantaro was quite the opposite, for him it was just another day except that there was a different flavor of chocolate in the store. but that changed when he met kokichi. He saw how much that day meant to kokichi he decided to join in. For the past years, that rantaros been with kokichi he always makes sure to wake up early to make kokichi food or buying flowers last minute. But it was slightly different this time.

*beep beep!* the alarm clock went off. Kokichi groaned slamming his hand on the button. After a few minutes, he got up and rubbed his eyes. And then he realized that rantaro wasn't anywhere to be found. After a slight panic, he noticed a folded piece of paper on the bedside drawer. He unfolded and read it dear kokichi, happy Valentine's Day love. Don't panic I'm fine I'm just decided to set up a sort of small scavenger hunt for you this Valentine's Day. Making travel all around our hometown. At each different location, there will be a different note with a hint for the next location. going through our story along the way. Here's your first hint: Playing pretend and with Neighbourhood friends. That's it, have fun see you later. Love rantaro kokichi sighed "this is gonna be interesting," he said to himself before getting out of bed to get dressed.

"Ok, so playing pretend with Neighbourhood friends. it has to do with our home town" he thought to himself walking down the street. "Playing pretend could be practically anywhere I'm just going to assume a playground, lake, river, or a  forest." Because he had to leave the city he got on the most recent train ride there and spent the ride thinking about it. "Ok, so the playground got torn down so it's not there. The river has too much water around it so it would get the paper wet possibly same with the lake. So I guess it's somewhere in the forest" the train pulled into the station he left and started to immediately make his way to the forest as soon as reached it his brain seemed to go into autopilot as to where he was supposed to go. After a few minutes, he saw a tree with an old ladder hanging on one of the sides leading to an equally old treehouse.

He put a hand on it looking for something. Then he noticed writing in the tree that looked like names "that's normal" then he read some of the writing a little closer, kokichi + rantaro = bffls is one of the things he could barely make out he smiled to himself knowing they became so much more and that he probably found the next hint. He carefully stepped on the first step of the ladder being surprised at it not breaking. Once he reached the top of the ladder he saw the completely abandoned treehouse. Dust everywhere, pencils and paper on the floor, and a few bugs. Despite this, it still seemed like it was frozen in time, forever like this. He saw another piece of paper on the floor congrats! You found the second clue only two more left. Here's your hint: multi-day sleepovers and prank calls

He took a walk around the neighborhood just thinking about it. Then he walked past his old house with another piece of paper on the first step. 3rd hint: cherry blossom petals and long due confessions. Kokichi thought for a second trying to remember where a confession happened. "Oh! The bridge" he started to run to it wanting to finish this as soon as possible so he could see rantaro. Once he got there it wasn't as beautiful as he remembered, probably because it wasn't cherry blossom season. Here's the place where we confessed to each other: smells of vanilla and freshly baked pastries"  kokichi sighed. The coffee shop they had their first date was back to where they lived now. He would have to go back anyways but he didn't want to do it now he checked the time 1:30. Sighing again he walked back to the station barely anyone around. He got on the train ride back again only a few people on it. He decided to call rantaro

"hey kichi how's it going" he heard rantaro speak through the phone "good, but why are you doing this?" he heard rantaro laugh "don't know but are you having fun remembering everything" "yeah I guess but this better be worth it in the end" he pouted "it will be I promise" "well I gotta go now bye rantaro I love you" kokichi said before hanging up. The train pulled into the station and kokichi went to the coffee shop. He found the last hint on a table outside the shop congratulations you've found the last hint the next location is the last one: skipping stones under sunsets. Kokichi was happy that it was over he just wanted to see rantaro so he basically ran to the next and final location. He got to the lake slightly out of breath. "hey kichi, nice to see you" rantaro tapped kokichis shoulder. Kokichi turned around and tackled rantaro into a hug. " I missed you so much ranran! Just kidding I didn't" kokichi said with a grin " I missed you too," the taller one said ruffling the other's hair. Kokichi stood up and put a hand out for rantaro who didn't take it knowing that kokichi wouldn't be able to hold his weight. "anyways what was that whole thing for, sure it was enjoyable but still also what did you mean by saying it will be worth it" rantaro paused for a second thinking and rubbed kokichi's cheek with his thumb

"well I wanted to remind of how practically since the beginning of our life to now we've been by each other's side and I want you to know that it'll always be like that ok? I love everything you do and sure you are far from perfect but I love that too" he took his hand away from kokichis face. kokichi looked at him kinda weird wondering if he was going to say more. He definitely was "so that is why I'm asking this" rantaro took something out of his pocket and got down on one knee kokichi's eyes widened in shock taking a step back "kokichi ouma will you marry me?" "OF COURSE I FUCKIN WILL" kokichi yelled falling onto rantaro with a non-fading smile.

Happy rather late Valentine's Day! Sorry if this story sucked I tried my best. Also, this means I'm back and I know that this isn't what I said I would post the last chapter but I wanted to make somethin for Valentine's Day. One last thing I'm very sorry for accidentally taking a break on oumami week, that was definitely not planned. But I'm back and I'm probably gonna make stories from the prompts over the next week so expect that. Love all of you beautiful people!
