if life was fair: a slam poem
If life was fair, I wouldn't have been so naive,
If life was fair, I wouldn't have let people use me,
If life was fair, I wouldn't have been bullied,
If life was fair, I wouldn't have been almost raped,
If life was fair, I wouldn't have been in so many mentally abusive relationships,
If life was fair, I wouldn't have lost so many people who were close to me,
If life was fair, my organs and intestines wouldn't be so shitty.
But guess what, life isn't fair.
It is shitty and cruel.
It will try anything to hurt you.
It will just get worse and worse.
You will get knocked down so many times.
Kicked in the gut and punched in the face.
What matters the most though,
No matter how much shit you go through,
No matter how much shit you endure.
You stand back up despite it all and keep pushing through.
And you look life in the face and say: fuck you.
