I was there: a slam poem

I was there when you were left on the ground,
Left to wondering that maybe your existence doesn't matter.
I was there when you were sobbing in your bedroom,
Over the passing of a family member.
I was there to pull you into my arms,
When your world came crashing down upon your shoulders.
I was there to help you through the pain and suffering,
That a male inflicted upon you.
I was there when you were struggling in college,
Helping you with your assignments.
I was there whenever you were puking in your toilet at 1 in the morning,
Holding your hair up and rubbing your back.
I was there to call you at night whenever you needed someone to talk to,
Because you felt alone.
I was there through the laughter.
I was there through the smiles.
I was there through the pain.
I was there through the tears.
I was there.
I am always there.
But then,
There was a moment in time,
When some of you left.
Where some of you weren't there for me.
Where I may have been your light,
You weren't mine.
Therefore, none of you can say you were there for me,
Like I was there for you.
