Rae POV:
I walked over to Zane's house to clear my head, I had instantly regretted it.
Not the fact that I was with Zane... But the fact that my phone was being tortured.
15 texts. Nash had sent me 15 freaking texts.
Nash:
4:00:
I saw you leave with my brother??
Nash:
4:10:
What's going on???
Nash:
4:15:
Why are you with my brother?! I thought I told you to stay away from him!
Nash:
4:30:
Please will you just tell me what's going on?? Please!!
"Zane, if I keep Nash waiting any longer, I fear he's going to turn into Taylor Swift and write a song about how I never texted him back."
"Then just tell him you're with me." Zane shrugs, as he pops a fry into his mouth.
"It's not that easy... Your brother is..."
"An asshole."
"Special."
Zane smirks down at his used-to-be meal, "He sure is something."
"Speaking of special, why did Nash book it out the front door when I arrived?"
"I don't know, we got in a fight, I guess."
"I don't get why you guys hate each other so much." I shake my head.
"Nash hates me because way back in the day," he pauses to look at me, "I was the good one... The one that got the great grades, the star runner on the Cross country team." Zane shrugs, "Some stuff happened in the past that I guess he just can't forgive me for."
Zane and I exit the restaurant and get into his car, "What did you do?"
Zane pulls out of the Mc Donalds parking lot, and them looks to me, then to the road, "Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there were two little twin boys. One little boy, Let's call him 'Blane' was the star runner on the Cross country team, his parents loved him, and he prooved to be the better one out of the two little boys. The other little boy, let's call him, 'Dash' hated the fact that his brother was better, but never really did anything to make himself stand out. He was a loner, a loser."
"So what? That sounds like every rivalry between siblings."
Zane laughs, "Oh, but my dear listener, it get's better..." Zane smiles down at me, "One fine day, on October 2nd, it was the two boys' birthday. Dash had stayed over at a friend's house the night before, and coincidentally, October 2nd was the date of Blane's first Cross country meet.
"The day begins, Blane wins his meet with a time breaking the middle school record, and the entire family decides to celebrate. They go out to dinner with relatives, give him presents, shower him with attention and praise... But they accidentally forgot one thing..."
"Once Blane and his parents arrive home, they see a drenched Dash sitting on the front porch looking upset. 'You didn't even remind them?!' Dash screamed at Blane, 'This isn't just your birthday, it's my birthday too! Now it's ruined!' Blane tried to tell Dash that he was sorry, but it was too late... 'I'm going to make you wish that you were never born.' Dash had said to Blane, right before he had entered the house that night."
