. Damnit. Damnit. Damnit. Damnit.
I don't want to go to the funeral. I don't want to see my boyfriend's dead body.
Seeing his dead body would mean that I'm accepting what's become of him.
Just because I've been forced to go back to school and socialize with the world doesn't mean that I've accepted what's happened to him.
"Can I come in?" I hear somebody ask from outside of my door.
I weigh in my options, but decide to unlock the door.
Kahale takes a step into the room and smiles a small smile at me. I do nothing in return.
"Rae, you can't be cold to me forever." His eyes show sadness, but it doesn't reflect in his face, "I didn't do anything."
I raise an eyebrow at him, "Whatever, Kahale."
I rake my eyes over his clothing, "Why are you dressed so sharply?"
Kahale chuckles under his breath, "For the same reason you are."
"Why are you going? You didn't even like him."
"Out of respect."
I can't help but let the scowl onto my face, "Respect? You had sex with his girlfriend while he was being abused. Zane would want you far away from his funeral."
"What the hell are you talking about? That kid was more of a bully than anybody I knew. Alexandria told me--"
"I am so freaking sick of hearing that girl's name!" I storm at him, "When is anybody going to realize that she's a liar! He was being abused by his parents and brother, cheated on by her, and picked on by everybody at school! You only added to his frustration!"
Kahale scowls down at me, "You have no proof of this. He probably just told you that to make himself look better."
I slap Kahale across the face before I walk to grab Zane's phone.
I pull it off of the charger, unlock it and find the "MyNote" app.
"So you're telling me that he wanted to make me feel bad for him?" I find the specific document that I'm looking for, press it and then hand the phone to Kahale. "Zane had no clue that I-- Or anybody else for that matter-- would ever read these. These are his words, pure from his brain. Unedited."
Kahale narrows his eyes at me before he looks down at the phone. He doesn't look like he wants to read a word, but his eyes rake across the phone's screen.
I see the color start to drain from his face as his fingers scroll the text upwards.
"Oh my god..." The words escape his lips, while still reading.
**I'm so sick of living in this god damned house. In fact, I'm sick of living in this god damned city. Nothing ever goes my way.
Alexandria, the bitch, cheated on me. Yeah, again. But this time, with a member of the football team. Oh wait, who am I kidding? She's screwed the entire football team.
Of course, when I come home, I'm pissed. I mean, my girlfriend just cheated on me, who wouldn't be pissed?
This is the genuine conversation that my mother and myself held when I walked through the door.
"What's your problem?"
"Nothing."
"You look like shit, don't tell me that you don't have a problem."
"Fine, my girlfriend cheated on me."
"Again?"
"Again."
"With whom?"
"Some stupid guy on the football team named Kahale."
"Well, good. At least she can get a step up from my son."
"You're terrible."
"At least I'm not a druggie."
And then she smiled at me and continued baking.
My mother? She's nice isn't she? The light of my life. NOT.
One of these days I'm going to finally fucking leave here.
One. Of. These. Days.**
"When did he write this?" Kahale starts tapping on the phone, probably looking to read more of Zane's thoughts, "And for that matter, since when do you have his phone?" Kahale looks up at me with sadness in his eyes.
I shrug, "He took me to lunch a couple of months ago and he gave me his phone because he didn't want it."
Kahale takes in a sharp breath, "I feel so bad, Rae..." Kahale is starting to get more emotional than I thought he would.. It almost looks like he's about to... Cry? "If I had known that she was lying? I wouldn't have ever done any of the bad things that I'd done to him. I mean, cheating with his girlfriend was only one of the many things that I'd done bad to him," He shakes his head as he goes through the phone, "Nash was also so persistent, though."
I bite my lip as I reach out for the phone, "Well Nash ended up shooting his brother, didn't he?"
Kahale holds the phone tight into his chest, "You've got to do something with these, Rae. Something has to be done here."
"What is there to be done, Kahale?" I scoff, "Nash and Alexandria won."
Kahale takes the phone from his chest and looks back down at it, "You write, don't you?"
I shrug and grab the phone from his hands, "I dabble."
"Write about it."
"Write about what, Kahale?" I roll my eyes, "There's nothing to write about."
I walk toward my dresser and grab out a necklace that Zane had given me for our one month. I feel Kahale behind me, "You have the story of his life in the palm of your hand. You have the lies of Nash and Alexandria written out oh so eloquently, and you're telling me that you're not going to doccument the truth?" I turn around to face him, "You literally just said, 'When is anybody going to realize that she's a liar?', now you have the power to put her out for who she really is." A small smile gently works it's way onto Kahale's face, "You have the tools, Rae," He lets out a short laugh, "Now all you have to do is use them."
I can't help but let the smile onto my face, "I have an idea."
