chapter fourteen

[yuna's p.o.v.]

'i'm guessing you guys are free after dismissal? bona asked me to take some of you to the bowling alley.' i ask, taking out my lunch. we were eating in the class. the canteen was packed today for no reason whatsoever.

'not today. my auntie is coming over and my parents are throwing a big family dinner. i wish i could bail, but i would probably be smacked with a sandal.' lia sighed.

'oh. chaeryeong?'

'i told you yesterday i'm looking for a part-time job. sorry pal.'

'oh..'

i looked at ryujin, who hasn't speaken a single word ever since she arrived. she was focused on her book.

'ryujin?'

no response.

'ryujin?' i tapped her hands.

ryujin flinches, and looks at me. she has been awfully quiet today, and it's something you wouldn't expect ryujin would do, since she's always chit chattering.

'i.. have lessons today.' ryujin's eyes travels around the class.

'but i thought you don't have them on fridays?'

'well, my mom hired a tutor since i'm not doing well with a lot of subjects. i have to go.' ryujin suddenly says, packing up her stuff and leaving the class. it wasn't normal, she was close to literally stompimg out of the class, and it alarmed soobin who was just entering the classroom.

'someone must have stepped on her tail.' he chuckles, making beomgyu and taehyun laugh.

'what's with her?' lia asks.

'i don't know. maybe it's just one of those days.' i fakely chuckle, but i was worried. she's never been like this, so what happened that was so bad that made her act like this?

[timeskip]

'girls, if you're not down by 10 seconds none of you are getting on that car!' mom yells.

i drop my lip tint and immediately stuff my essentials into my bag, and quickly skated out of the room, slipping on the carpet. bona was doing the same, and we were almost sliding down the stairs but fortunately, we were down by the 2nd count.

'finally. run along, stop making lea wait.' mom says, unlocking the door for us to leave the house.

we wave goodbyes and we see the car. bona takes a seat next to the driver one and i enter the passenger seat, but it was already packed.

'where do i sit?'

'there's the backseat. just recline the seat.'

i reached to the sides to recline the seat, but someone was already ahead of me. the seat reclines, and hueningkai's face pops out, making me yell in shock.

'oh right. my bad. kai is coming with us.' lea says.

i went over the seat and took my place, trying to be the furthest away, but there was such little space since there were plenty of bags just here and there.
