[yuna's p.o.v.]

the class turns to bitter silence as lia walks in the class, forcing herself to give a fake and small smile. chaeryeong and i share a glance before she takes her seat back from a girl who previously sat on it.

i walk up to her and give her a tupperware with her favorite pasta. on her first visit to our house, mom was cooking pasta for dinner and it was her favorite food once she left the house.

'thanks.' she forces the corners of her lips to rise.

i nod, before taking my seat back to give her some space. ryujin comes soon after, her face dull with her eyes glaring daggers at everyone. she didn't seem like she despised everyone, but like she despised going back to school.

ryujin takes her seat and for once, she doesn't approach our seats (obviously) nor talk with anyone else, but she pushes her airpods in and casually scrolls through her phone.

lia places her chin on her palm and gazes at nothingness, tapping her fingers on the table rhythmically. soon i realized lia seemed more guilty than ryujin.

chaeryeong and i sat once again in the same table, and the scene that happened a few weeks ago replays in my mind. ryujin was nowhere in sight, disappearing right after the bell rang but lia was in the canteen, taking a seat on one of the senior's tables who still had space for some more people.

we watched her every movement, until she stood up and carried her almost empty tray to the counter, when suddenly one of the girls from a nearby table sticks her foot out, and lia tumbles over, whacking soobin's tray too, and his food combined with the leftovers of her meal splatters all over her from top to bottom. scattered laughter and murmurs fill the air as soobin mumbles an apology.

'oops~ didn't see you in my way. perhaps you were too ugly for me to even recognize you.' nancy giggles.

soobin offers his hand and lia quickly takes it, pulling herself up again with cold eyes staring back at nancy's menacing ones.

'you think your so funny that you're mocking me, but you're a plain disappointment, nancy-' lia barks back, as soobin pulls her arms, restraining her from doing anything else.

soobin manages to pull a fighting-back lia away from the canteen. nancy follows her figure with a grin until she disappears from sight.

chaeyeong and i follow their trail as soobin brings her into the rooftop, where only a few or no one hang lazily. lia finally manages to let go of his powerful grip, standing back from all 3 of us.

"i'm sorry to all of you for having to put up with me." she whimpers.

"you don't have anything to be sorry about, lia. i would do the same if i were on your shoes." chaeryeong caresses her hand.

for once, lia smiles like the usual and engulfs as into a hug, including soobin, who awkwardly hugged back with his manners.

"yeah.. i guess you're right." she says, almost a whisper to herself.

"do you want to go back?" soobin speaks up.

"actually.." she starts, before a long pause occurs.

"could you stay here? i don't want to be alone right now."

"we're going straight to class to prepare for the quiz." i say.

"i don't have anything to do. i can stay." the corner of soobin's lips rises, and lia does the same.

"thanks."

the last bell rings, and chaeryeong immediately jumps, sliding all of her books and stuff into her backpack. i stood up and walked over to her, not yet packing up.

"chae, what's the rush?"

"mom moved my tutoring right now. i need to go there quick, see you on monday!" chaeryeong blabbers, and i couldn't hear a single word correctly. she taps my shoulder and was the first to rush out of class.

i'm alone again. lia is off to her debate club and that leaves me alone, on a friday. too bad the tteokboki discount vouchers are expiring today. i sweep of the remaining books on my locker to study and pack my belongings.

i take my sweater and exit the class, only to be held back by ryujin.

"yuna, can we talk?"

"i'm busy today-"

"let's use the vouchers." ryujin finishes my sentence sternly, staring at the vouchers i held. she was really onto talking to me.

should i? i could use a afternoon snack right now, and ryujin was the one who got it in the first place. but i should be avoiding her. she ghosted us anyways.

but she was my best friend. and so, i gave in.

"alright." i finally say.
