the familiar bell rang once again as a customer entered the shop, letting another sigh come out of yuna's mouth. she's always been alone in the neighborhood, all the kids were older than her. even she knew it wasn't common a kid would enter the shin's art store, she would still hope.
and maybe today, she could make a new friend. her mother had told her earlier that her classmate's family will move across their's and will start a bakery. that was the reason why she was staring outside her window, expecting somekind of moving truck to arrive, and it finally did.
a boy dressed in a matching blouse with his father exited the truck, carrying boxes filled with baking materials, books and many others. another car pulled over and supposedly his mother and older sister came out, also carrying boxes. they entered the house which was previously owned by a loving old couple.
a knock occurs, snapping yuna out from her observation. yuna's 11 year old sister, bona, enters the currently messy room, struggling to talk through the books and dolls.
'mom told you to help the new neighbors. let's go.' bona says in a voice that always bored yuna.
yuna nods, following bona leave the store. after crossing the road, yuna lets go of bona's hand and immediately rushes to help the boy. maybe a little too excited.
'don't you want some help? looks like you need it.' she says, alarming the boy.
the boy flinches back, probably too alarmed to see a hyperactive girl climbing on the boxes who happened to be around his age.
'hey! little girl, you're going to fall!' his father yells. yuna climbs down to the rear of the truck, tapping her feet. the boy looks at her with confusion as she tries to pull the boxes off the platform.
'wait! I should do that, there's fragile stuff there.' The boy says, pointing towards the label she didn't notice.
'well, hueningkai, i think you should go help your mother unpack too.' his father says. It was his chance to escape from the nosy girl.
'hueningkai. that's his name.' yuna mutters breathlessly as she stares at the boy nodding at his father.
hueningkai takes the opportunity to run, but yuna was already behind his tail. she reached for his hand, and soon they were holding hands and staring at each other. yuna gave a cheeky smile, making hueningkai even more uncomfortable.
his mother enters the scene, carrying a flower vase.
'well, hello.' she says.
'hi!' yuna exclaims.
'what's your name?'
'shin yuna. i live just across the street.'
hueningkai finally managed to let go of yuna's grip, before hiding behind his mother.
'why don't you go play with yuna, kai?'
hueningkai pulled her mother's arm until she was on the level he could whisper into her ear. his mother silently whispers, 'just go ahead. don't be scared!'.
hueningkai never knew how horrible his school years will be after he met yuna.
