"i can't believe its already the last day.." chaeryeong comments, spreading sunscreen on her arms. yuna had been the first to wake up and get ready, and now she was staring blindly at her phone. ryujin noticed this and waved her hands right in front of yuna's eyes, snapping her out from her thoughts.

"you okay?" ryujin's voice hinted worry. "yeah.. just a little tired, nothing much." yuna assures the oldest. "well, it's still early morning. cheer up a little!" yeji's voice interrupted the two. the three turned, seeing yeji and lia by the door, all dolled up. "you should've told us you were coming! i would've get ready faster." chaeryeong said.

"my bad. me and yeji are gonna go ahead first so we can get a good spot in the beach. anyone wanna tag along?" lia asks. chaeryeong gave her attention back to the two. "are you guys okay with that?"

"of course." yuna forced a grin. chaeryeong left with yeji and lia, leaving ryujin and yuna alone. "its him, isn't it?" ryujin sat next to yuna on the bed. "you know me too well." yuna mumbled in reply.

"don't let him bug you. look, we're going to spend our time in the beach, just the five of us, without anyone else." ryujin held yuna's hands, locking eyes with her. yuna stared intently at the bed, not being able to meet her gaze, but she agreed anyway. she couldn't say no or anything else.

"you're right. let's have a blast."

yuna watched a shirtless somphomore guy pick up a girl, supposedly his girlfriend in the waves. it wasn't suprising that a lot of couples were playing around in the water, but it kinda hurt that it could've been her and a particular guy.

agh, there it is again.. yuna quickly realized what she was thinking of. giving up, she let her upper body fall on the sand, placing a towel on her face to shield the sunlight.

she wasn't resting here by will. she was just saving it since the others were getting drinks. but being alone in her thoughts made her overthink even more and more.

chaeryeong was the first to return, strawberry slushies in one hand for yuna. yuna took the drink and they drank in silence. yuna took it as an opportunity to ask an important question.

"did anybody ask you out?" yuna asked. chaeryeong stopped slurping her drink, flaring her pupils at yuna's. "actually, yeah! kang taehyun asked me."

"odd for him to ask you, right?" yuna asked. "no, not quite. we're in the same cram school anyways." chaeryeong blurted out, but quickly covered her mouth, almost like she wasn't supposed to say that.

"oi~ and you didn't tell me?" yuna sang. "if i told you, you would tell the others and ryujin will clown me forever." chaeryeong's lips twitched. "just tell me if its a secret. i'd keep my mouth shut, chae."

"yeahyeah, okay."

a pair of hands interrupted their conversation, palms faced down on yuna's eyes. she chuckled in response, immediately recognizing who it belong to. "very funny park jisung.."

"bummer. hi, chaeryeong." he waved at chaeryeong, who was focused on her drink. "why aren't you swimming?" he asked. "i already swam in the river." she recalled the incident a few days ago, making him laugh.

"this is different. c'mon!" he lifted her hand up with one pull and dragged her to the waves.

the sand buried her feet in an instant, and she lost balance but jisung was quick to pull her back up, and she smacked his arm. "try to warn me next time!"

" 'next time'? so you're planning to stay in the water, right?" yuna lifted her eyebrows in a mischievous manner, dipping her hands into the water. "now that you mention it, yeah i am." she splashed water onto his face.

jaemin's jaw dropped seeing jisung being this close with a girl. jeno, who had just noticed him agape, closed his jaw, silently chuckling. "why are you so shocked? you knew it was coming."

"not this soon. my maknae is growing up so fast." jaemin clenches his fist, placing it on her chest.

"my?" jeno repeated.

"okay, ours." jaemin sighed in defeat.

a hand tapped his shoulder, spinning jeno around. chenle was fixated onto him, his eyes were needy and frightened. "i need to tell you something, hyung."

time was ticking.

hueningkai knew very well about jisung's intentions, but it wasn't like he could just get in their way, right? get in their way.. the words repeated in his mind. their way. they're a lot closer than him, and he wasn't even on friendly terms with yuna.

even though knowing all of this, and witnessing it too, he couldn't help but imagine if things were different. maybe if he tried being her friend and not pushing her away, they could be dancing together in prom.

oh, prom. that was another problem.

everyone in class was asked already, except wonyoung. he could bare being alone but even taehyun, the homebody, asked someone. and she said yes! going to prom seeing yuna and jisung also seemed to bother him more. and he couldn't ask someone outside of class. he was only in good terms with his classmates.

and so he made his move.

the first thing he did when he arrived at the beach with his hyungs was look for her. he already asked her to meet last night, which took a lot of courage and patience, but he successfully did it anyway.

it didn't take too long to spot her, since she was a lot taller and slimmer than her friends. her hair was loosely tied into a ponytail and she wore a one-piece swimsuit.

he excused her from her friends and brought her somewhere more secluded. he spoke first before she could protest. "you haven't been asked out, right?" he asked. "sure." she said, not answering the question.

"what?" he tiled his head in confusion.

"you want to go to prom with me since you can't go with the shin girl, right?" wonyoung retorted. a flush creeped along his cheeks. "yeah.." he said in defeat.

"i'm also doing this because.. i'm sorry for what i've done." she started. "i've been an ass to her because thinking you like her more made me mad for a lot of reasons." she looked at her feet.

wonyoung is apologizing, the sudden realisation hit hueningkai.

"oi, listen to me, will you? you won't see me this vulnerable ever again." he uttered a quick sorry before paying attention to her again. "i know you won't forgive me right away, and i understand. i just want you to know that i really regret doing those things to her." she finished.

and when she perked her head up, he finally saw the tears sprouting in her eyes. seeing she wiped them away with her arm, then quickly smirked again. "well, that's that. i'm not gonna cry over you, silly." she hit his arm quite forcefully, but he assumed she was joking around.

"i'll see you later." she quickly said, and left him alone.

[a/n: loOK AT THEM. THEY LOOK SO SMOL AND I'M SAYING THIS KNOWING I'LL BE LOOKING UP AT THEM IF I EVER MET THEM IRL]
