the sun signaled the start of a new day, and maybe a birth of something new either: could it be a child or a bloomed flower, hueningkai was normally chipper the instant he woke up.

a huge weight was lifted off his shoulder when he realized the date: he could finally taste fresh air now. and he had one thing in mind before he could do anything else.

"well, aren't you smiling brightly today? what's going to happen today?" his mom noticed his eagerness in a second, feeling his feet tapping on the floor as he ate his breakfast. "nothing important. i guess i'm just happy to finally go outside again."

"well next time don't pick a fight!" she sighed, opening the fridge, taking out banana milk for him to drink. but she just sounded stern because she truly knew what he would be up to, at least thats what she thinks.

she sat down in front of him. hueningkai looked at her up and down, confused why she suddenly seemed so melodramatic.

"do what you think is right. own up to the bullshit you did."

he laughed, taken back, also suprised that she used an unusual word, but he nodded accordingly and thanked her for the meal. he slipped on his shoes and walked outside, instantly noticing the girl he's been waiting to talk to all month.

she tossed and turnt on her bed, double curtains shielding her from the sunlight she didn't realize. she stayed awake and didn't took notice if it for she was too busy trying to take her mind off the boy in the photograph.

she would be lying too if she said she didn't think of it at all, because the truth was: she did. it was her first unintentional kiss anyway, and it was stolen by the jerk who she likes. thats the question too. does she like him because she was attached to him or for his personality?

she could've swore she moved on, but that was a lie considering what she was wandering upon now. in defeat, she stood up out of anger, jumping like a cat from the cold floor streaming her feet. she walked over to her window and opened the curtains with squinted eyes, sighing in tirelessness upon seeing the sunlight.

the door knocked and in came in her mother with a tray of her favorite meal. she accepted the fact that yuna was isolating herself for days but of course, as a mother, checked in often and gave her favorite meals. she knew she needed some space.

"i see you've woken up early today?" she whistled, placing the tray on the foot of yuna's bed. "yes." yuna lied, walking back to her bad and flinging herself on it, without the care of destroying the tray.

"why don't you go outside? it's a bright morning today, you need that from all of the rainstorms these past days. it's just contributing to your depressing mood."

"i'll try and decide if i want to stand up again. if not, you know where to find me."

her mom let out a concerned laugh. "well, alright, tell me if you need anything sweetie." she closed the door. yuna could hear a faint sigh coming from the other side.

despite her lack of sleep, maybe she did needed some fresh sunlight, and maybe a new canvas to work on. or a new wall, she'll decide later.

she got up and wore whatever wasn't too fancy or boring in her wardrobe and went to the storeroom, picking up her old paint set. she missed the touch of the soft brush, and now she was even more excited to work on it again.

it was also her lucky day, for when she walked outside she found a blank wall, a perfect size for her, and she thanked heavens she didn't have to ride around town just to find a blank wall that would've not been enough for her.

she placed down the heavy buckets of paint, heaving a breath on every landing, prepping up a stool in case she needed some leverage. and she just started without a real image in mind, she let her imagination run wild. could it be she started from a pretty little sunflower, something she always drew like it was a mark to represent her, or one of her most random doodles would be a half-ostrich elephant. she didn't want to recall it either.

immersed into the process, she couldn't hear the footsteps of someone approaching her and only realized who it was when he spoke up.

"good morning."

he kneeled beside her, copying her same position. she remained silent, but saw him from the corner of her eye watching her fluid movements across the stone. "that's a really good painting you've got there."

she gulped, having the thoughts rush back to her the moment she listened to his melodic voice again. i should be mad, she reminded herself, but it wasn't easy after having similar feelings return.

"i know you're still mad at me, or not, but—"

she stood up, clearly knowing what he was about to say. she headed back, not minding the painted clothes and hands she was in and the paint she left behind, but he held back her wrist in an attempt to stop her, which worked.

"let me have my word. you can leave after i'm finished. please."

she didn't move from her position, but she didn't disagree either.

"i was stupid. i pretended you didn't exist then tried to kiss you without your consent. i can't precisely tell what happened but i was a dumbass. i'm sorry if i made you uncomfortable in any way, and i've reflected it. i hope." he said in one breath.

she kept her silence.

"maybe it was best that we restarted." hueningkai suggested. he let go of her wrist and turnt her around, meeting eye to eye despite the height difference.

"my name is hueningkai. i'm 18 years old and i'm a student in hanlim high school. how about you?"
he lended a hand.

she stared down at his hand. she was mad, of course, but maybe she was too upset to realize that he could actually like her. it did excite her, but she wasn't ready to forgive him. maybe tomorrow, or never.

but to start over seemed like another easy option.

she reached out to hold his hand. "my name is yuna. i'm 17 years old, and i study in hanlim too. i like to paint as a hobby," she shook his hand. "do you want to help me paint?"

"i'm not the best.. but i'll try." they went back to the painiting site, and she lended the brushes and some paint. they painted their own ways, which were extremely easy to distinguish, with yuna effortlessly painting a sunflower field while hueningkai's paunted purple circles which seemed like grapes, but somehow it blended well.

they dropped in a few conversations there and here, but they were mainly focused on their art, and the other party's art as well. they made sure they were doing it correctly, but it was mostly yuna who was correcting his mistakes and telling him the best paint combinations.

they couldn't help but think of the irony. they flipped.
