Spinal Phase (part 2)

What are we going to do? Kai thought as he ran around the elevator trying to dodge the two inkrays coming for them.

"We need a plan," Kai was no longer messing around, he had a serious expression on his face.

"What do you do you think we should do, Mister Kai?" 8 said, her voice shaky.

"I don't know..."

Suddenly both of the Agent 3's threw a splat bomb towards them, Kai dodged it and then had an idea.

"You know what! If we can't reach them with our ink, why not with our splat bombs!" Kai said his face lighting up.

"That's a good idea!"

"Do you think you can stand?" Kai asked her.

"I think so, thank woo," 8 said politely.

Kai put her down and told her the plan. Once they stopped using their inkray, that's when that would strike, and that's what they did.

They ran around the elevator dodge if the inkray and made sure not to make them cross. Once they stopped Kai and 8 shot their splat bombs towards the platform where they exploded.

"Now we just got to do it one more time," Kai said determined, and then they repeated it, and everything was silent.

"Did we do it?" 8 asked, out of breath.

"I don't know, but I have a good feeling that we did." Kai collapsed onto the ground from exhaustion.

The moment was silent, almost too silent. They stood there for over a second when they heard the beginnings of a splashdown.

"8, run!" Kai jumped sliding out of the way.

Just when he thought that it was over, it happened again. Kai ran out of the way falling from the force of the splashdown. Kai looked to the side to see the same things happening to 8, but then something unexpected happened.

The girl held 8 still, like she was on her knees, holding her back, and ready to splat her.

"Mister Kai help!" She said tears starting to roll down her face.

"I'm coming!" Kai was so fixed on 8 that he almost forgot about the other Agent 3.

The other Agent 3 stopped him with a third splashdown, its force pushed Kai back hitting the small plastic glass railing on the edge, nearly knocking him unconscious.

"Mister Kai!" 8 screamed, tears rushing down her face.

Kai stood up rapidly seeing the Agent 3 walking towards him. Kai's breaths were heavy, and he felt his eyes swell with tears as he got closer and closer.

Kai looked into his eyes, lavender with a slight glow, and everything to him fell silent. Kai remembered something, something that he knew, someone he knew, someone he knows.

With tears in his eyes he stood up straight and continued looking into his old friend's eyes, and as tears streamed down his face, his gaze broke from him and he mumbled the words, "I'm so sorry Sol....." and just in that instance, Kai threw a splat bomb towards the direction on 8 and the other Agent 3.

Just in that instance, the female Agent 3 released her grip from 8, from the shock of the Splat bomb. Kai was on the edge as the Agent 3 pushed him leaving him hanging off the side of the elevator with little strength left. 8 quickly finished off the female Agent 3 - by accidentally slicing off one of her tentacles- and ran towards the other, she rammed into the side of him pushing him off balance.

Kai quickly got up, onto the other side of the elevator, and before he could get his balance he ran up and finished off the other Agent 3, and the goo on both of their faces came off.

Kai collapsed on the floor and tried to steady his breathing. Both Agent 3s were on the floor unconscious once again.

"Mister Kai, are you ok?!" 8 ran up to him poking his side to see if he was still alive.

"I'm fine, don't worry," Kai sat up his breathing now steady and smiled.

8 smiled back, and a relieved sigh escapes her. Kai stood up off the ground, realizing that they were moving again.

"Kai, Agent 8, are you alright?" It was Captain Cuttlefish.

Kai and 8 nodded their heads, both of them exhausted.

"Good, now untie me at once! I've been hanging here for a while!"

"Okay, okay, we will," Kai went over then untied Captain Cuttlefish and Niki with shaky hands, and just when he did that the elevator stopped. They looked over to see a ladder leading up to the surface.
