In the corner where he had been asleep, Namjoon woke to whispered conversation that was too far away for him to be able to decipher. When he opened his eyes, he saw the man he had been trying to love hunched down next to the one who was his oldest friend. His interest was immediately piqued by the fact that, at some point in time, Hoseok had awoken but instead of waking him up, had gone straight to Min Yoongi. While the rap line had always been close to one another Yoongi had remained more distant with Hoseok than he had Namjoon and even in recent times, the two had flung verbal weapons at one another that further showcased the fact that they were not as close as they could be. The sudden ability for Hoseok to confide in Yoongi and not Namjoon had the man up in arms, the sticky green monster of jealousy rearing its ugly head.

'What does Yoongi-hyung know that I don't?' Namjoon wondered as he continued to stare at the two. 'What am I not giving Hoseok that he feels he needs to go to someone else?' Namjoon hung his head, but still kept his eyes trained on the pair.

He couldn't stop looking at Hoseok - he never could. From the moment he saw him, Namjoon could never move his eyes away unless absolutely necessary. Hoseok used to laugh at him when Namjoon would whisper in his ear that he only had eyes for him, would tell him that he was a hopeless romantic. He was; Namjoon had to admit it. He was... now. Never before - before it was just sex; he didn't have time for a relationship. But with Hoseok, it was different. He wanted to be there for him, to talk to him, to understand what he liked and didn't like.

Namjoon wanted to be Hoseok's lover in every way possible. But there was a distance between them - some kind of barrier that Namjoon hadn't figured out how to knock down, and then all this happened... Namjoon wanted to call out to him, to let Hoseok know he was awake. Maybe Hoseok would come to him, want to sit with him instead of with Yoongi. Namjoon wanted that but disliked the fact that he did. Maybe Yoongi was the right person for Hoseok to talk to at that moment, maybe he could help in ways Namjoon could not...

And that was the problem, wasn't it?

Namjoon opened eyes that he hadn't realized were closed to find Hoseok walking toward him with a look on his face that Namjoon couldn't define. Behind him, from the bed across the room, Namjoon saw a look of compassion flash across his hyung's face and felt his stomach drop.

"Why aren't you sleeping, yeon-in?" Hoseok asked softly as he sat down on the edge of the bed next to Namjoon. He had seen his lover watching him as he had stood from his conversation with Yoongi and a part of him was worried that Namjoon might get the wrong idea. One jealous and vindictive lover had scarred Hoseok for life.

"Is something wrong?" Namjoon asked, his chest inexplicably tight. He was sure that he had done something wrong. That must have been why Hoseok went to Yoongi instead. Was Hoseok going to leave him now? Had he found better advice, at least, in the place that he had gone? "Did-- Is everything okay?" Namjoon tried to ask again, trying to be impartial... trying....

Hoseok gave Namjoon a soft smile as he nodded, his brain running through every possibility he could imagine, wondering how terribly wrong this entire conversation might go.

"Ye," Hoseok said as he looked at his hands. "I just-- There's something you should probably know and...I just... don't-- Promise me you won't get mad. Hear what I have to say."
