Summary:

Just as a warning, this is where our story will split between the main story-line that will continue here, and the spin-off our minds dreamed up, which will be linked when Kidnapped is posted to completion.

I do hope you all give that little heartache a chance too!

The trek up the mountain was dangerous, and long. All around them trees broke and cracked, water falling down from everywhere, soaking into their clothes and hair, sweat from exertion stinging their eyes.

Their conditions were bad and it made climbing hard, especially when they were forced to carry two of their number. Two of the strongest brothers they had.

And while all of this was going on, Mathan continued to suffer in silence, the illness he had not bothered to manage finally catching up to him, taking an unmistakable toll on his body.

Was he dying?

Here and now?

In the very forest he needed to free these seven men from?

He couldn't be.

He did not have the time to be.

He had to see Bangtan to safety first - had todeliver them into the waiting arms of his crew - the only people he trusted tofinish his last mission. One he now thought he wouldn't be able to finishon his own.

Halfway up the hellacious mountain they were forced to climb, Jungkook slipped and fell to his knees, the humidity and moisture hard on his still weak lungs. The others reached to catch Jimin who was still out cold, Namjoon taking him and carrying him on his back as Hoseok came to support Jungkook on the trek, the both of them holding on to one another to ensure they wouldn't fall.

Up, up, up they went for hours on end - deeper into the suffocating darkness created by the trees - limbs and rocks and the bones of dead animals sometimes blocking their way, reminding them of just how dangerous this unknown territory was.

All of them were exhausted - pushed past their limits, but all of them knew. They had to continue on. To keep trading off the teamwork between one another.

'Teamwork makes the dream work.'

Hadn't that been their motto all along?

"I can't," Jin breathed, his hand on his chest, finding a rock and sinking down on it when Taehyung became too heavy. "I need...please."

"I'll carry him for a bit," Mathan said, thankful for the shadows of the forest as he gently rubbed his burning chest - lungs refusing to expand already.

Shit.

"How much further?" Namjoon whispered as he tried to look around, not even the light of the moon penetrating the forest canopy, making it hard to see anything at all.
