Laird's POV
I've been so irritable lately. The show had me completely drained plus I was alone which didn't help anything. All my castmates were married and having or had children and then there's me. All alone. Being the third wheel. It was my day off, I decided to go to an art gallery to try to clear my head. I stopped by the coffee shop on the way there and ordered my usual. on my way out the door I received a text I looked down at my phone for thirty seconds and wham! I bumped into someone. My coffee was all over the place. I looked up at the poor girl. It was all down the front of her shirt.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry."
She was apologizing?
"No oh god I'm sorry."
"No your coffee it's so damn expensive. Let me get you another one?"
"No it's fine. Your shirt is ruined! It's white and this coffee is not coming out of it. Hang on."
I put my phone in my pocket and threw the coffee cup in the trash. I peeled my blazer off and handed it to her.
"No it's fine, that looks really expensive. Besides, I'm kind of a klutz so-"
"No I was looking down at my phone and I didn't see you. I don't know how I mean, wow."
What. Did I really just say that? She turned to the small counter, her cheeks were extremely red. She grabbed a handful of napkins and dabbed her shirt. She made a face.
"Are you okay?"
"Maybe-probably. That coffee was hot."
"Oh god. Did I burn you? "
"It's fine. I'm fine. A little cool water and some lotion will make it all better."
"I feel awful. Can I at least walk you to your place?"
"I don't normally let strangers take me home."
"How rude of me. First I burn you with coffee, then I don't even introduce myself."
I hold my hand out to her.
"I'm Laird."
"I'm Lexi."
She shakes my hand. Wow, she has the tiniest hands.
"Now we aren't strangers. You need to get cleaned up."
She smiles up at me. Her green eyes sparkle.
"Alright, I guess you can walk me home."
"Perfect."
I grin and she leads the way. I walk beside her with my blazer still in my hands. I scanned her form. Her hips swayed as she walked and it was damn sexy. She was shorter than me, about half a foot which I loved. And her curves wow.
The wind blew and I saw her shiver, so I draped my blazer over her shoulders.
"Laird I'm fine."
"You just shivered."
"It was one of pleasure."
She raised an eyebrow at me.
"What?
"I don't know."
She giggled. Oh god, her giggle was adorable. I held my hand up at her as she tried to give back my shirt. As we walked we talked. She was from upstate, only a short drive from Canada which was my home.
"I thought there was something funny about the way you spoke."
She teased me. I chuckled and she turned to me and gestured to a small brick building.
"Tada here we are! Thank you for walking me home."
"I think I need to make sure you get inside."
I smirked as a police car whizzed by. She smiled grabbed my hand and led me inside. We walked up six flights of stairs, it was a good thing I was in shape or I would've been winded. We were outside a door marked 903 I smiled at the number, my birthday.
"What?"
"Nothing. Your apartment number, it's my birthday so I guess we were meant to cross paths."
I grin as she unlocks the door. I follow her inside and look around. There's some art hanging on the wall which makes my heart skip a beat, every wall is a different color one is even brick. The furniture is mismatched in a decorative way. it's very modern.
"Welcome. I'm going to get changed you just um chill? There's drinks in the fridge and glasses in the cabinet.
Alright."
"Alright."
She bit her lip as she turned and walked to her room. I watched her walk away. God, the way her hips swayed it killed me. I ran the the cabinet got a glass and gulped down some cold water. As I waited for her I drummed my fingers on the counter and played on my phone. I heard a door close. She came out in a tank top with a sweater in her hands. How I didn't see those before boggled my mind. I must've been distracted by the coffee fiasco. She tugged the sweater over her head and gave me a smile.
"All dressed. How do I look?"
She twirled and I scanned her body with my mouth wide open.
"Close your mouth you'll catch flies."
She blushed.
"You l-look great."
I smiled.
"So I guess you'd better get going hmm? Big important Broadway star that you are."
"You know who I am? "
"Of course. Love Broadway. One of the reasons I moved here."
She bit her lip again. God. She was trying to kill me.
"Well, it's my day off I was going to an art gallery."
"Perfect let's go."
She smiled and I took her hand.
We made it to the gallery rather quickly. It was almost empty. I watched her look at all the art. The way she stood farther back or close up. Cocked her head and squinted her eyes. It reminded me of myself. I felt as if I had known Lexi for years. Before we knew it, it was closing time eleven thirty. I chuckled. Time passed so swiftly with her. I decided to walk her to her apartment. The brick building looked very intimidating in the dark. I stopped and she turned to me.
"Well, I had a great t-"
She reached up on her tiptoes crushed her mouth to mine. I wasn't expecting it but I of course kissed her back. Sparks flew. I closed my eyes and felt fireworks, or bursts of electricity, whatever. Something that made me know we were supposed to meet. The coffee fiasco wasn't an accident, it was fate bringing us together. She pulled away, her cheeks flushed bright red.
"Wow."
Was all I could say.
