It's a nightmare or I'm still in a dream
I'm following the familiar light the maze in the dream
I found another pathway there"

Heiryung was so done.

She had once again cried all night not wanting to see her soulmates dream.

His life was great. He seemed so happy all the time and so hopeful, he had friends, and a family. What more could he have?

Her life though, sucked ass.

Her parents separated when she was young after her dad became an alcoholic and attempted to kill Heiryung's mom. Of course Heiryung was at school, being a five year old, and her older brother went home. Her mom took her brother and fled, not bothering to take her only daughter, leaving the child alone with an abusive father.

In short terms, Lee Heiryung was done with everything.

What soulmate would want her?

He always asked if he could fix her, but she always replied by saying 'broken things can't be fixed,' or saying, 'worrying about useless things is unnecessary.'

Of course he hated her saying these things, but Heiryung truly believed them.

Soulmates meant nothing.

Her mom and dad were proof of that.

Heiryung's soulmate always asked for her name, even though he knew that her voice would be distorted if she said anything factual. Heiryung just sat down and cried.

The dreams started connecting when she was fifteen. Ten years with an abusive father. The abuse only got worse as she grew up, so she found small jobs to do, or stayed after school to do school work then walked to a small playground until midnight then snuck in.

Her life progressively was filled with loneliness. No friends, as everyone made sure to steer clear from the girl with constant scars and bruises. Rumor had it that she was in a gang and that was how she got the marks.

"You shouldn't have stayed awake all night then you wouldn't have been so tired," the deep voice of her soulmate said.

As the days grew, their bond grew, and in her dreams, instead of feeling a constant presence,  she could see a solidifying outline/silhouette more and more each night. During the day they were beginning to start communicating telepathically.

"Fuck off," she thought back as she blocked him out of her head.

No way was she letting him close, she wasn't going to be hurt anymore.

Heiryung threw on her uniform and brushed her tangled hair out, slipping on athletic socks and adidas slides, and rolling her skirt down to fit her ever slimming waist.
