Heiryung's hands were gripping the strap of her bag, Mark awkwardly walking besides her.

"She didn't forget you," he said, "you know?"

Heiryung stayed quiet as they approached the cafe table. She saw long black hair and a nice T-shirt. The woman had nice flowy pants on a beautiful jewelry.

She took in the woman's appearance, it very closely resembling her. She couldn't deny that it was clear that she was related to her.

The woman just gasped at Heiryung while Mark awkwardly placed a small kiss on the woman's forehead before sitting down.

Heiryung pulled a chair out.

"I know you're meeting your mom but please give her a chance to explain. Just clear your head. Take deep breaths."

Heiryung closed her eyes and followed Jisung's wishes.

"Yeah thanks I'll try."

"It'll be ok. Don't even try talking that much, ok?"

"Yup, have fun with Chenle and Jaemin today."

"Thank you Hei."

"Heiryung..."

She looked up at her mom, the woman's hands clenched as they shook slightly.

"Ms. Lee," she said.

Mark grimaced at the realization that Heiryung was not going to call her mom her actual mom until she felt comfortable. Due to Jisung's advice and Kun's recent therapy.

"Heiryung I'm so sorry-"

"Why," Heiryung choked out, pausing to take deep breaths and try to think rationally.

"Why did you leave me behind in a situation you knew was going to be dangerous?"

Heiryung's mother sat still and looked down at her hands.

"I didn't want to-"

"So why did you," she whispered, "was it you playing favorites or was it something else?"

Mark had no clue what to do. He wanted to reach out to his mom, but at the same time he wanted to reach out and hold his sister's shaking hand. He was afraid that this lunch could possibly be the last time he saw Heiryung. He didn't want that.

After so long of being without his little sister he couldn't fathom being separated from her again and the thought that it was very well possible scared him. He wanted a complete family again.

As much as he had tried to convince himself that he and his mom was a complete family, he was always reminded of his sister and dad. He knew that his mom was all he needed, but at the same time he wanted his little sister back.

"I... it was in the spur of the moment Heiryung," her mom said, "your dad yelled at me to get out and I was so scared. I just packed my bags and your brother had just gotten home so I got him to pack his bags and we left.

I did think about you, it was just going to fast. I wish I would've packed you bags but I didn't. It was my worst mistake, and if I could I would've gone back and done it."

Heiryung sat in silence.

"So basically you're saying just because I couldn't be there at the time of him kicking you out I was left behind? Couldn't you have picked me up early from school?"

"I was scared," she said, "I was lost and I was running. I-"

"You thought of what you had at that exact moment."

It was silent as three waters were placed in front of the trio.

"Yes."

Mark took a sip of water, Heiryung's crest fallen face haunting him.

"Why didn't you think of coming back for me later?"

Ms. Lee sat still in her chair.

"I did," she said, "but it was too much money. I was stuck in Canada with no job and one child. I wanted to come back sooner, maybe three years after you left but by then..."

"It was too late," Heiryung said.

The waiter came and took their orders, Heiryung ordering for herself.

"I'm sorry Heiryung," her mom said, "I wanted to come back and clear things up, but there were so many obstacles and so many thoughts I had. I know you probably don't-"

"Mom," Heiryung said glancing up at her.

"I know why you did it, and it does hurt me, but I've matured. I know we've both been through some shit and to be honest, we would've gone through hardships either way. And I do want to get closer to you."

"You... you do?"

Mark was surprised as well, not expecting the change of events.

"Yeah," Heiryung said, "growing up without a mother figure was hard. I'd like to know you, maybe have a shot at a somewhat normal daily dynamic, whatever that is these days. And I'm upset still, but I think after all of this... a little forgiveness can't hurt."

Heiryung's mom burst into tears, Mark instantly getting up and hugging her.

Glancing back at Heiryung he smiled.

'Thank you,' he mouthed, Heiryung nodding.

"I did it sung. I forgave her."

She waited a moment before his voice filled her head.

"Proud of you, that takes a lot Heiryung. I'm really proud of you."
