Rayan didn't have many nightmares, but when he did they stuck with him. He wouldn't dwell on them long, he would pick a lesson from it and move on.

But this one bit at him.

***

He was in a city he couldn't recognize among a cheering crowd. All were staring at gallows.

Rayan didn't know how long he stood there but he finally saw who they brought out.

A beautiful black-haired woman with storm grey eyes.

She had black streams of eyeliner down her cheeks as if she was crying.

Rayan knew who it was, which is why the nightmare prevented him from screaming her name orvmoving to save her. It just forced him to stand there and watch, being completly useless and helpless.

She saw him standing there. She screamed and called and cried his name doing everything in her power to breakaway but she couldn't. She was too weak. She was too broken.

The ones who lead her out put the noose around her neck. She started crying black tears again then took a deep breath.

The executioner put his hand on the lever and the floor fell beneath her.

***

Rayan awoke gasping for air as if it was him in her place. He steadied himself and took a deep breath.

It wasn't real and no way in hell would he let it if it was.

Rayan took another deep breath to calm himself before getting out of bed and put his armor and weapon on.

He left his room amd ordered a quick breakfast consisting of snowberry milk, a small sweetroll and baked salted chicken.

He met up with Serana, Erik and Arkinwrath who were all eating, mainly in silence with a comment here and there.

"Morning." Rayan said to the group.

"Good morning Rayan." Arkinwrath said as he took a sip of his drink. "Did you have a nightmare by any chance?"

"Yes." Rayan answered coldly. "Why?"

"Because there was a fogling wandering around town before I got to it." Erik chimed in. "Its fog must have seeped in here a bit because we all had one. It should dissipate after a few hours."

"We won't be here to see it." Rayan said. "Hopefully we'll be at Dragons Bridge."

"Agreed." Serana said.

They group finished their food, left the inn, mounted their horses and left Morthal.

They traveled a few hours until they came across an overturned cart at the end of a road that split. The carts horse was dead along with several dead imperial soldiers and a few other dead bodies.

"The cart looks like it was comming from Dragon Bridge." Erik said pointing in the direction it came from.

"Think this is our Moth Priest?" Rayan asked.

"Most likley." Arkinwrath said as he got off Rayans horse. "These bodies look like Harkons vampires."

"Search them, lets see what we find." Rayan ordered as he got off his horse.

Everyone went to a body and started searching any pockets or pouches.

Rayan was at an imperial. He searched looking for orders or information and taking the gold from the corpse.

"Found something." Serana said as she pulled a note from the vampire body she was searching.

She opened the note to read it with Erik looking over her shoulder to read it.
