"800."
"750."
"795."
"755."
"Deal."
Victoria handed the dawnguard a note.
"Memorize this please." She said.
"Ok, and if I don't find this person." The dawnguard asked.
"You still get paid, just not the full amount." She said in a business tone.
The dawnguard left the inn and Victoria leaned back in her chair.
"Fuck me." She said to herself as she took a drink and rubbed the small bags under her eyes.
"Tempting, but I have to with great enthusiasm decline that offer." A voice said behind her making her jump.
"Real funny Mhara." Victoria said as Mhara in the chair across from her.
"You not sleeping well are you?" Mhara asked in a serious tone.
"I'm scared. I am genuinely scared at anyone catching on to us." Victoria said as she took another drink.
"About that." Mhara said.
"You didn't."
"It was only one person."
"And how do you know they won't tell the guild or Mercer?"
"They won't, that I made sure of."
"Who is it?"
"Sapphire."
Victoria choked on her drink and started coughing hard. "WHY WOULD YOU TELL HER?"
"She actually found out, so I decided to place my trust in her and let her know." Mhara said as she tried to get the attention of the barkeep. "She is also on her way here in a bit, what do you want to eat?"
Victoria groaned and rested her head in her hands on the table, her hood drooped over covering her face. "What does Sapphire know about our plan?"
"Everything you told me." Mhara said as the barkeep came over.
"What do you want?" He asked.
"She'll have grilled leeks, salmon steak, and snowberry juice. And I want cooked venison, a cheese wedge and mead." Mhara said.
The barkeep nodded his head then went towards the kitchen.
"Nobody else outside of us three knows." Mhara said trying reassure Victoria. "You have my word on that."
"Thank you." Victoria said as she sat up and took another drink.
"So why specifically dawnguards? Hoping Rayan will come in and help?" Mhara asked.
"Partially." Victoria said quickly. "Mostly because they are reliable."
"So you are are going to tell him if he is here?" asked the apprentice.
"Yes and no. You know how protective he can get, especially if my life is threatened." Victoria responded as started to yawn.
"And you get the same way as well. So, what are you going to do then?"
"Let him know I need some help and leave it at that. I don't want him confronting Mercer yet."
"Yet?"
"First of all, you think either of us is skilled enough to directly face Mercer?"
"Well, yes."
"You arrogant ass." Victoria laughed.
