A feeling of tiredness splashed over Rayan as he and Serana entered the Soul Cairn.
The air, if there was any, was still and stagnated Rayan had took take deep breaths it was hard for him to breath properly.
"Are you ok?" Serana asked. "You've turned as pale as me."
"I'm fine. But lets not spend more time here than we have too." Rayan answered as they started to wander trying to get a sense of direction.
The Soul Cairn itself had a purple sky with what could be described as a black sun or an eye keeping watch over its domain. The ground was black sand and dirt littered with bones and broken black stone structures.
Rayan could see the souls wander aimlessly through the cairn.
"They dont look like they are suffering." Serana said. "They look bored."
"Yeah, didnt really know what to expect in here." Rayan said.
The two walked along a path past souls muttering about their past and their last encounter on Mundus.
They past one soul shouting a name before grabbing onto Rayan begging him to help him find his lost horse.
"I can't." Rayan said as he tried to shake off the soul feeling sorry for it. "I'm sorry."
They pushed on still looking for any signs of Seranas mother, Valerica.
They came up to a long wall that seemed to go on forever in either direction separating different sides of the cairn with only one large opening to allow passage.
Rayan saw purple lights beaming up from some towers in the distance. He could also see a large castle-like structure with two lights beaming out of its main towers.
"Lets start there." Rayan said as he pointed at the castle.
"Good idea." Serana agreed.
Before they started moving Rayan had to sit down. The long walk drained him.
Serana sat next to him and held his hand.
"Don't die here." She started. "I can't do this alone."
"I won't." Rayan reassured her. "If anything, I just plain refuse to."
Rayan looked at his side of the Soul Cairn, he could see the lights from the towers and the castle. Then he looked at the side Serana was on. He could see the swirling portal they came through with the stairs leading down to the ground.
"How are you feeling now that we are here?" He asked.
"At home in a dark, strange, and twisted sort of way." Serana answered. "And normal."
"Ha, maybe you should have made me a vampire then." Rayan chuckled.
Serana chuckled as well then took a sigh.
"You think we'll see yours and Eriks soul wandering around here?"
"A little bit. Definitely would be interesting to see part of me running around here."
"And what of Erik?"
"I don't know, maybe bored. Honestly I expected more from this place."
"How so?"
"Well, I mean this is hell in a way. You said its a sliver of Oblivion right? Which in itself is hell. Like when Molag Bal and Mehrunes Dagon tried to take over Tamriel. The gates they used had demons and daedra coming out of it. And in a journal scrap from the Hero of Kvatch that was in a book about Oblivion in Fort Dawnguards library, it mentioned fiery tormenting, so much the the ground he walked on seemed to be suffering."
