After Charms class had finished, no one saw Hermione Granger for the rest of the day. Hope Lupin-Black wondered what could have happened that made her leave so quickly. As she made her way down the staircase, Hope was met by Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown at the bottom.

"Did you hear what your friend Ronald said to Hermione in Charms?" asked Lavender, a glare prominent on her face.

The Lupin-Black girl furrowed her eyebrows as she shook her head. "No? What'd he say this time?"

"Are you really trying to insist you weren't there?" Parvati sneered, rolling her eyes. "You're with him and Potter every second of the day."

"Obviously not, if I'm asking what happened," she crossed her arms against her chest. "Now, spit it out."

"He called her a nightmare—" the Patil girl began to say before her friend loudly interrupted.

"And now she's crying in the girls' bathroom, by herself," said Lavender, as she got into Hope's face. "This is your fault, why didn't you stand up for her?"

Hope quickly raised her hand, stopping the Brown girl from continuing. "Hold on for just one second, how is this my fault? Aren't you her friends, why didn't either of you say something?"

"Aren't you her friend, too?"

"Yeah, the only difference between you and I is, I don't follow her around like a lost puppy." snapped Hope, pushing her finger into Lavender's chest. "You two need to get a life—"

Lavender's face quickly turned a bright shade of red. "Listen here, I don't know who you think you're talking to—"

"I think it's kind of obvious, it's you—"

"Trouble here, ladies?" a male voice came loudly from behind them, making the two first-years freeze.

"Nothing too bad, we hope?"

Alfie Lupin-Black and Cormac McLaggen shared a look before Hope started to laugh. "Come on, you two, these girls aren't worth our time.

As the three walked away, Alfie eyed his younger sister as she drug her feet on the way to the Gryffindor Table. The Lupin-Black girl just sat with a frown, sighing as she spoke.
