Just as Harry Potter and Hope Lupin-Black repaired their friendship, another fight broke out. Ron's rat Scabbers was apparently eaten by Crookshanks, and it seemed to be the end of Hermione and Ron's friendship.

Even Harry somewhat agreed with Ron, but most of the friends thought the argument was stupid and needed to difuse.

"Okay, side with Ron." exclaimed Hermione, glaring her dark eyes at Harry. "I knew you would!"

"Hermione, calm down." said Hope, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

Hermione jumped up from beside Ginny and Hope. "First the Firebolt, now Scabbers, everything's my fault, isn't it! Just leave me alone, Harry, I've got a lot of work to do."

"Come on, Ron." started Fred, looking to his brother. "You were just saying how boring Scabbers was."

"Fred, you're not helping." Ginny smacked her brother upside the head. "He's grieving his rat."

George leaned back onto Hope's legs, motioning with his hands as he spoke. "And he's been off-color for ages, he was wasting away. It was probably better for him to snuff it quickly, one swallow, he probably didn't feel a thing."

"George!"

"All he did was eat and sleep." Fred continued, not minding the looks he got from his sister and Hope. "Ron, you said it yourself."

Ron's eyes filled with tears as he spoke up. "He bit Goyle for us once! Remember, Harry?"

"Yeah, that's true."

"Poor Greg, getting bitten by a boring rat."

George turned around to face his girlfriend, who looked heavily annoyed. "Do you want to get out of here?"

Hope and George walked out of the portrait of Sir Cagdon, ignoring the stares from everyone. And once they were out, they walked down the great staircase, and walked down to the main corridor.
