Hope Lupin-Black returned to Hogwarts with no memory of what happened two weeks prior, there was no memory of Ivailo Krum, as well as what happened that day. And with only a hand full of people knowing what happened, no one seemed to notice a difference.
The third task quickly neared and Cedric Diggory knew close to nothing about it. All that he was told was that there were going to be many magical creatures and different obstacles. And Cedric was less than prepared.
"It's a complicated yet simple spell, Ced, really." Hope stressed, pulling out her journal on charms. "I mastered it last year."
"For you." added Cedric, plopping down onto the blanket that they sat on by the Black Lake. "You're brilliant in Charm, that's my worst subject."
Hope only shrugged her pale shoulders. "Do you know how to produce a Patronus?"
"No? I've read about it, though."
"Prepare to be amazed." Hope smirked as she stood up, taking her wand from her pocket. She looked her best friend in the eyes. "Watch closely. Expecto Patronum!"
A patronus of a magpie quickly shot from Hope's wand, swooping around by the Black Lake. Cedric's eyes widened in awe, while the Lupin-Black girl smiled proudly.
"What's it used for, J?"
"Dementors, usually." she replied, sitting back down. "You can also use it to send for help, I guess."
Cedric nodded slowly. "And, uh, how exactly do you do it?"
"You focus on your happiest memory." Hope explained, motioning with her hands. "It can take awhile to find your happiest memories at first, though."
"What's your happiest memory?"
The Lupin-Black girl shrugged her shoulders. "It's a mix, really. I think about seeing Dad again for the first time, all of our happy times, even George--"
