The end of summer came quickly, disappointing both of the Lupin-Black kids greatly. Yet, there was still a sliver of excitement as it meant going back to Hogwarts to see their friends. Lyall had come to stay with his son and his family, keeping him company as he prepared for an empty house.

Remus Lupin stood at the bottom of the stairs, pacing back and forth as he looked at his watch. He shouted up the stairs once more. "Hope! We're not going to be late because of you, come on! You're going to miss the train!"

"She's a girl, Remus, let her take her time," Lyall reminded him as he sat back in his chair. "She has to get pretty for all the boys."

"That's not funny, Dad," Remus glared at his father, tapping his foot anxiously. "You're a bit too soon for that conversation. She's still a little girl."

"You're going to have to have it eventually," the grandfather chuckled as he took a drag from his cigar. "When did you and Sirius start flirting? Was it third, maybe fourth year?"

The Lupin man only tapped his foot more before yelling out for a final time. "Hope! I'm not joking, we have to leave!"

At that second, Hope Lupin-Black came sliding down the railing of the stairs, finishing her landing perfectly with a grin. "Would you settle down? I was on my way, literally."

"And what took you so long?" Alfie Lupin-Black asked as he walked out of the kitchen with a raised brow. "We've been ready to go for ages. Cormac has probably been there for ten minutes already."

"Children, that is enough—"

"Hey, it's not my fault that I had to brush my hair," Hope interrupted, defending herself with a proud grin. "I've been told only a million times to look presentable. Isn't that right, Papa?"

Remus shrugged his shoulders as he nodded along. "That is correct—"

His son only scoffed from beside him, sarcastically adding. "Well of course she would want to look good for Cedric."
