CHAPTER NINE
❛I stand corrected, look at them--❜
Over the next few days, many seemed to have noticed that Hope Lupin-Black didn't want to discuss what happened in Defense Against the Dark Arts, and most accepted it. And by lunch on Friday, it seemed as if most was back to normal.
Ginny Weasley sat next to one of her best friends as they looked over Quidditch stats, while Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnegan just snacked on pieces of bread. It was a quiet lunch, until Harry, Ron, and Hermione showed up.
"Hope, Ginny." said Hermione, holding a large bucket in her hands. "Would you like to purchase a badge to join the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare?"

Hermione looked at Hope as if she committed an illegal crime. "You have a slave?!"
"I wouldn't call him a slave, he enjoys serving." she replied, not phased by the girl's reaction. "And when he dies, he wants his head mounted on the wall--"
"His head?!"
Hope just nodded once more, still not understanding Hermione's dramatics. "Well, yeah. My Aunt Elladora created this tradition of beheading the house-elves when they no longer can perform their duty--"
"Their duty isn't to serve you--"
"Hermione, it is their duty." Hope's grey eyes met Hermione's brown. "Kreacher takes it as his biggest priority, he'd never want to quit--"
