Tyvral

The four younglings walked through the winding ice caves in a small bunch, glancing around as if their crystals would be waiting around the next turn. They came to a cross-section icy tunnels branching off into every direction.

“What direction do we go?” asked one of the younglings, a human girl.

“We should split up,” said a second human boy.

“Well let’s pick our tunnels,” said the Togruta.

Each youngling closed their eyes and walked down a tunnel. Tyvral walked with his eyes closed sensing the path. His foot slipped under ice he went airborne. Tyvral landed with a thud groaning in pain.

He stood up gingerly and looked around. He had not gone far, for he could still see the mouth of the path he had gone down. “This is stupid, it’s probably the wrong way”.

He started to turn back when he heard singing coming from down the path. Tyvral turned to look for the source of the sound. There was nothing but ice but he ran down the path. Suddenly, there was a chasm that was filled with massive pillars of ice that reached down into darkness far below. Tyvral looked down from the edge before shuffling back a few steps. He looked across the chasm and saw a shining among the ice. Between two spikes of ice was a crystal glowing among the darkness.

The singing sound amplified and Tyvral gasp. “There you are”. He examined the chasm, there was no way that he could jump across it.

“Great,” he muttered. He looked around and his eyes locked onto the pillars. “Maybe,” he said biting on his lip in thought.

He back up and couched down. His body and legs swayed in anticipation. He breathed deeply then sprinted at the pillars.

He landed on the first pillar and immediately leapt to the second. His jump was short and his eyes widened as he began to descend short of the pillar. He grasped the pillar, his claws gauging deeply in the ice as he slid down it. He climbed back up shivering from the contact with the ice. Gazing across the chasm, teeth clashing together, and saw seven more pillars to go. Dread filled him and he looked back at the ledge where he came from. He leapt back to the first pillar and onto the ledge. “There has to be another way,” Tyvral snapped.

Tyvral cast a longing glance at the crystal which still sung to him. He closed his eyes and felt the energy of the crystal. He closed his eyes and pulled the crystal towards him. It floated across the chasm, hovering over the darkness it’s dim light still shining. Sweat slid down Tyvral’s brow, and his clenched muscles trembled as the crystal inched closer to him.

The sound of a rock falling echoed from somewhere and Tyvral gasped. The crystal hovered in the air for a moment then began to plummet toward the darkness. Tyvral reached out with the force and pulled with everything he had. The crystal shot out of the gloom and into his hand. Tyvral let out a long sigh, his breath forming a large cloud in front of him. “I hope I don’t have to do that again”.

Challenge: If you can tell me who is getting a cameo in this chapter, and the last Tyvral chapter, then I will take a reasonable request. Happy Hunting.
