Mal’dar
“When I said I’d help you out this isn’t what I had in mind!” snapped Rimi as blaster bolts flew over her head.
“I didn’t make you come!” snapped Mal’dar as he popped up from behind his box and blasted a clone.
“SKIP!” yelled one of the other clones running towards his brother.
Mal’dar blasted him and the clone joined his brother sprawled on the floor. A blast struck Mal’dar pauldron and he ducked down back behind the box.
“Are you trying to get killed?!” snapped Rimi.
“Not at the moment,” said Mal’dar shooting her a glance.
Rimi raised her blaster at him and Mal’dar froze. She pulled the trigger and the blast struck a clone who was aiming at Mal’dar.
“Thanks,” he said.
“No problem,” she said ducking behind her box.
Blue blast kept flying over their heads until suddenly they stopped. Mal’dar and Rimi both slowly poked their heads over the boxes. The clones were in a line their blasters aimed at them, they stood a few feet from the wall of the cargo freighter the door to the cockpit just behind them. Mal’dar and Rimi both ducked back down, “Why’d they stop shooting?” asked Rimi a note of concern slipping into her voice.
They heard a door open and the pair poked their heads up to see a clone with a rocket launcher. Both instantly ran, Rimi running to left and Mal’dar to the right. Clones fired at them as they did and a clang rang out as a bolt struck Rimi in the back. She tumbled along the ground and looked over at Mal’dar, “An easy mission?!”
Mal’dar winced and glanced out the clones. A flurry of blaster bolts answered him and Mal’dar instantly backed away and examined the scene. He and Rimi both had the cover of more storage crates, but that wouldn’t last for long with that rocket launcher. Crates stretched nearly from one wall to the other with the exception of the center of their row where crates and their loads were blown to pieces from the rocket launcher. Mal’dar looked at the most recent addition to his vambraces, “This had better worth 3000 credits”. He stepped out into the center of the row and pressed a button on his vambrace. A micro wrist rocket streaked through the air and struck the clone with the rocket launcher. The clones flew through the air and were splayed on the ground unmoving scorch marks on their white armor.
Rimi limped out from behind her crates and looked from Mal’dar to the unmoving clones, “Why did you save that until now?”
Mal’dar looked at her, “Those rockets are 500 credits each, I only have one more and I wanted to save them for tanks”.
Rimi shook her head and limped towards the door, “Whatever let’s just get this thing back to Carlac”. She pressed a button and the door slid open.
A blue blast came from the cockpit and knocked Rimi the ground. Mal’dar shielded her with his body as he began to drag her out of the line of fire. A blast struck his back and burning pain radiated from where he was hit. Mal’dar dragged her out of the line of fire and sat beside her, “You ok?”
Rimi nodded slowly, her head swaying as she did. “Yeah, I’ll be fine”.
A clone stepped out from the cockpit his blaster aimed at Mal’dar and Rimi. Mal’dar instantly fired and the clone’s blasters fell from his fingers. A smoking hole went through his helmet, then his forehead, then the helmet once again. The clone fell to the ground his helmet sliding off somewhat as he did.
“Commander!” yelled a voice.
Mal’dar ignored the clone, though his helmet was certainly unique. And he strode into the cockpit anger fueling his every step. Two clone pilots raised their blasters but Mal’dar was faster. He fired and both clattered on the floor, Mal’dar paid them no heed.
“NO!” screamed the voice and Mal’dar looked over.
A girl with a lightsaber charged him, the lightsaber raised high above her head. Mal’dar kicked her and she flew back and hit a wall, her lightsaber clattering on the floor. Her hand shot out and she pulled the lightsaber to her hand. Mal’dar trained both of his blasters on the girl, “Drop it”.
She glared up at him defiantly, the blue blade shining in her eyes.
Mal’dar shot her knee no emotion on or under the helmet.
The girl screamed as tears began to form in her eyes, and she deactivated her lightsaber. Mal’dar aimed his blaster at her head, “Now drop it”.
The girl glanced at him, then her knee, then her lightsaber. Mal’dar shot her leg and doubled over in pain dropping the lightsaber. Mal’dar picked up the lightsaber and looked down at the girl, “Now why was a ship that was supposed to have a few clones have a Jedi and weird-looking clone trooper”.
The girl pursed her lips.
Mal’dar holstered his blasters and pulled out the two lightsabers one green one blue. The girl’s eyes widened as the two blades shone in front of her. “Talk or I start taking limbs,” said Mal’dar impassively.
“He was a ARC trooper,” relented the girl cradling her leg.
“Why were he and you here?” asked Mal’dar.
The girl looked tearfully up at Mal’dar, “We were just taking this ship to meet up with my master, it was right on their way”. She buried her face in her hands and her body shook with sobs.
Mal’dar felt a stab of guilt pierce through his fog of anger and he deactivated the lightsabers.
Footsteps came from behind him and Mal’dar spun around. Rimi limped into the room and took in the scene, “A Jedi?!”
“Just a padawan, can you keep an eye on her while I call Vizsla?” asked Mal’dar.
Rimi nodded and she leaned on the wall until it was only a few feet from the girl, she then slid down the wall and sat down looking at the girl with a blaster drawn, “Don’t try anything”.
Mal’dar sat in the pilot’s seat and took the ship out of hyperspace. He pressed the com button and called Vizsla’s personal com. No response. Mal’dar pressed the call button again. No response.
Rimi leaned her head back, her helmet tinging as it hit the metal wall ever so slightly.
Mal’dar pressed the call button again, muttering under his breath.
The girl slowly slid towards Rimi and placed her hand on Rimi’s side. Rimi immediately leveled her hand at the girl, whose eyes were closed. Rimi inhaled sharply and Mal’dar spun towards them. “LET GO OF HER!” he roared.
The girl’s eyelids fluttered before she fell back against the wall. Mal’dar knelt beside Rimi, “Are you ok?”
Rimi nodded and she stood, “Yeah”. She hopped a few times and land soundly every single time, “Yeah, she healed me somehow”.
Mal’dar looked at the girl in amazement, “I didn’t know Jedi could do that”.
Rimi shook her head, “Neither did I,” she tore her gaze from the girl and to Mal’dar, “What did Vizsla say”.
Mal’dar shook his head, “Nothing, he didn’t answer”.
Rimi flinched in surprise, “He always answers, did you try Bo?”
Mal’dar nodded, “No answer”.
Rimi looked the girl who was breathing shallowly, “So what do we do with her?”
Author's Note: So as you likely noticed I shuffled around the Mal'dar chapters a bit, sorry if it's weird but it improves the story. As always criticism is welcome and vote if think the story deserves it. Also chapter 32 and 40 were edited so be sure to check that out. Anyways Antihero out!
