Cad Bane strode slowly down the streets of Nal Hutta a swagger in his every step. “Come on Todo!”.
“All right, all right, there is no need to yell. Besides, we already got the job and our down payment, why do are we still here?” asked Todo.
“Is it your job to ask questions?! Besides I want a drink,” said Bane.
Todo sighed, “Of course you do”.
They walked along the marshy streets passing shady figure after shady figure as they made their way to a bar. They walked in and Mando sat in a booth. “Todo, did you recognize the mando that was following us?”
“No, but through an image search, I have found that he is believed to be a bounty hunter working for the separatist. He is wanted by the republic,” said Todo.
“Interesting,” mused Bane as he grabbed a drink.
The door opened and Mal’dar stood in the doorway. He slowly walked in scanning the room, his eyes settled on Bane who held up his drink to Mal’dar.
Mal’dar walked up to Bane and gestured towards the seat opposite him, “This seat taken?”
“I don’t see anybody in it,” said Bane stretching.Mal’dar sat down and looked directly at Bane, “I have an offer for you”.
“And what would that be?” asked Bane lowering his hat.
Mal’dar unflinching gaze stayed locked on Bane, “Well I’ll need a hand on a job, and by all accounts, you’re the best out there”.
“You done any jobs before sonny?” asked Bane.
“Depends on what you consider a job. I fought against the Jedi at Abrion Major and drove them off-world. Does that count?”
Bane put a toothpick in his mouth and began moving it around, “I suppose it’s something, though it’ll depend on what you want to do”.
Mal’dar looked around and saw several people hastily shift their gazes from him to their drinks. “Not here, I have a ship we’ll talk there,” said Mal’dar.
“We’ll talk by my ship,” said Bane getting up.
“Alright,” said Mal’dar.
The two left and went to Bane’s starfighter, a Cutlass-9 Patrol Fighter. Bane leaned up against the side, one hand hovering by his blaster. “So what’s this job?”
“Jedi hunting,” said Mal’dar watching Bane’s hand.
Bane breathed deeply, “That’s a risky business sonny”.
“And a profitable one,” said Mal’dar.
“Million credits for every Jedi head isn’t that bad, but it’s also a good way to get yourself killed,” said Bane.
“I guess you’re not as good as I heard,” said Mal’dar turning to walk away.
Bane’s blaster was out in an instant and aimed at Mal’dar’s helmeted head. “I wouldn’t be so hasty if I was you”.
Mal’dar turned back to Bane, “Put the blaster down, it won’t get through my armor”.
“I could easily hit your neck,” said Bane. Then he twirled and holstered the blaster.
“Profit will be split fifty-fifty,” said Mal’dar.
Bane scoffed, “I get seventy percent or no deal”.
Mal’dar stared down Bane, “Sixty-five, thirty-five, I get an extra five percent as a finder’s fee”.
Bane pulled his toothpick out of his mouth and flicked it on the ground, “You got yourself a deal”.
“Good,” said Mal’dar.
“What kind of ship of you got?” asked Bane.
“A Kom’rk Fighter,” said Mal’dar.
“We’ll take that,” said Bane and he followed as Mal’dar lead the way.The ship hurtled through hyperspace as Mal’dar, Bane, and Todo formulated a plan. Todo projected the hologram of Qaath Kannak, a Jedi knight. “Any particular reason that we’re going after this Jedi?” asked Bane.
“After the republic won The Battle of Christophsis they left a lot of troops there, but most of those troops left to fight in battles on other planets. So one Jedi, and only around a thousand clones,” said Mal’dar.
“That’s still a lotta clones,” said Bane a toothpick swirling in his mouth.
“You know of a better Jedi to go after?” asked Mal’dar.
Bane swished around his toothpick a couple of times before answering, “No, but I still don’t like it”.
“You want out?” asked Mal’dar.
“No, but I hope you got a good plan for dealing with those clones,” said Bane.
“Yes I do,” said Mal’dar.
Bane’s eyes narrowed at him, “And what would that be?”
Mal’dar put a finger under a metal plate that made up the floor and lifted it. Underneath was a blaster pistol, two thermal detonators, and a long cycntrical object that ended in a flattened point. Mal’dar took out the cylindrical object and held it up for Bane’s appraisal.
“A computer spike,” said Bane.
Mal’dar nodded, “I had it programmed to lock down and shut down a building, we just have to get to control room”.
“Then what did you have planned,” said Bane.
“We cut our way out and get to the roof then get to the Jedi and kill him,” said Mal’dar.
Bane shook his head, “No, a Jedi can cut through doors quickly. We would be to slow we need a way to get him out of the building, so he doesn’t know. Then, we lock the clones in and take him together to kill him”.
“You have an idea?” asked Mal’dar.
“I’m thinkin’ about it,” replied Bane.
