Positives and Negatives {Sonourge}

NINETEEN

__It was nightfall and Sonic and Scourge were still sitting on the couch while watching T.V. Scourge had allowed himself to lean on Sonic's shoulder and it made Sonic nervous. He wasn't even trying to give himself any satisfaction with the situation. Scourge was just making it harder for him. Of course, Sonic didn't oppose this since he knew Scourge was still a bit upset. He just tried to keep as still as possible.
__It didn't get any better once Sonic was in bed. He lay there, tossing and turning. He kept fantasizing himself with Scourge together. He tried to push all those thoughts out, but they wouldn't go away. He kept seeing himself lying in bed with Scourge, sleeping ever so peacefully with their arms wrapped around each other. It got to the point where Sonic got mad at himself. Sonic sat up and started pulling on his ears. Stop it! Stop it! STOP IT!
__Sonic then decided to go for a midnight walk. He was careful to sneak pass Scourge, who was sleeping on the couch. His glasses were on the coffee table and his shoes were by it. Scourge was on his side and snoring quietly. Sonic felt his heart melting as he left through the front door. After closing the door slowly, he pressed his back against the door and sighed. You're an idiot!
__He started walking around, enjoying the breeze of the night air. It was nice and cool outside and the stars glimmered brightly across the sky. The sound of the grass crunching as he walked over them fascinated him. He made a big inhale and sighed as he walked through the woods. This is what I needed after all this stress. Just keep walking until you feel like going home.

__Sonic had stayed walking around until two in the morning. He was a bit exhausted, but he didn't feel like going back yet. He was walking on a dirt pathway in the middle of an open field that would lead to the city. He could feel the bags forming under his eyes and sometimes he could feel himself about to collapse. Maybe I should go back before I pass out. He turned around and started walking back when someone had tackled him and threw him into the dirt. Sonic's eyes were wide open and he stood up to see who had attacked him.
__"Hello again, Sonic," A brown lynx was standing in front of him. "Not very wise of you to be walking around at night is it?"
__Sonic raised his fists and took a step back as he glared at the lynx. "Hey there, Lightning. Is the rest of the Destructix here with you?" He tried so hard to keep his balance and his eyes open.
__"Of course they are!" Lightning then laughed as three other people showed up behind him. One of them was a blue hawk, the other was a giant brown gorilla, and Sonic recognized Flying.
__Sonic managed to bring up a chuckle as he wagged his finger at them. "Ya'll shouldn't have shown yourselves to me. I was told to call the Zone Cops if I see you."
__The gorilla was the one to step in front of everyone as he glared down at Sonic. "We'll see about that."
__Sonic then crossed his arms and started tapping his foot. "Why are you guys suddenly trying to attack me, huh? You just that mad?"
__"On the contrary," The gorilla replied bitterly. "We all have a grudge that needs to be sorted out."
__"Bring it on, Simian!" Sonic taunted. "I'll wipe the floor with all of you!" Sonic didn't even believe himself. He was too tired and his vision wasn't completely focused. Why did I even stay out this long!?
__Simian laughed as he popped his knuckles. "You're a fool if you think you can take us on while you're exhausted."
__"Yeah!" Flying started laughing as well. "You got no sleep! None! We are well-rested!"
__Sonic braced himself as the Destructix charged towards him. Sonic was able to dodge all of their first attacks but was starting to get pushed around as he started to feel dizzy. He was tossed, turned, and slammed onto the ground. He would make attempts to use his homing attack, but it was no use. Because he was tired, he was slow. He couldn't use a spin dash.  
__Flying had extended his tongue and wrapped it around Sonic to where he couldn't get away. He began laughing as he lifted him up and Simian began hitting Sonic like a punching bag. Sonic was yelling out in agony. It hurt worse than it would if he had his full energy. He tried getting out of the tongue's grip, but Flying only tightened its' grip. Both Lightning and Predator, the blue hawk, were cheering as Simian continued.
__Simian backed up and smirked as he readied his arm for another hit. Sonic shut his eyes and waited for Simian to slam him. But nothing happened. He heard Simian yell out and a loud thud. Sonic opened his eyes and saw that Scourge had tackled Simian. He was standing on his chest and his eyes were glued on Flying, who immediately dropped Sonic and retracted his tongue. Sonic watched as Scourge turned to Lightning and Predator and charged at them. He was able to take them down pretty quickly with his homing attack. He then turned around when Simian got up and ran at him again. He used another homing attack and hit Simian's face. He stumbled backward and lay still when Scourge was standing on his chest again.
__"Tough luck, Simian," Scourge growled as he leaned his face closer to Simian's. "Sonic's with me now. You can't touch a single hair on him while I'm around."
__Simian glared at Scourge and bared his teeth at him. "You...!"
__Scourge brought up his leg and kicked Simian right in his temple, knocking him out cold. He hopped off Simian and glared at Predator and Lighting. Neither one of them attempted to stand up. Scourge then glared at Flying, who had backed away and sat on the ground willingly. Sonic flattened his ears when Scourge stomped over to him. "What the fuck are you doing out here!?"
__Sonic held his stomach as he started trembling. "How did you even know I was out?"
__"After I went to use the bathroom, I saw your bedroom door was open and you weren't in there," Scourge explained. "Now why are you out here!?"
__Sonic avoided eye contact with Scourge as he spoke. "I needed to go out for a walk and clear my mind. That's all."
__"It's past fucking two in the morning!" Scourge sneered. "What could possibly be on your mind that required that much clearing!?"
__Sonic continued to tremble under Scourge's gaze. He was still tired and aching in pain. Scourge's outburst wasn't making it better. I can't answer his question. He'll know! He can't know! But what excuse could I possibly use? There isn't any!
__"Sonic," Scourge's tone turned softer. He grabbed Sonic's arm and helped him on his feet. "Look at me," He pleaded. Sonic looked into Scourge's eyes, feeling his heart racing. "What's going on? You've been acting weird all day. Don't think I haven't noticed. Just tell me what you're going through. Let me be there for once." Scourge's face gave away that was worried for Sonic.
__Sonic flattened his ears as he looked away. "You wouldn't want to hear it," He muttered. "It's not something you'd like."
__"I want to hear it," Scourge reassured him. "Whatever it is, it's bothering you. Tell me."
__Sonic looked at Scourge. He was still a bit dizzy and the situation wasn't making it better. This was it. There was no going back. He had to tell him. He had to tell Scourge his true feelings. He made a big inhale and exhale before he spoke. He was surprised by how confident he sounded. "This isn't easy for me to say, Scourge. Just know I'm being serious right now. I'm not messing around."
__Scourge nodded slowly. He looked worried.
__Sonic hesitated before he continued. "I don't know how, but my...preference has changed."
__"Your...sexuality?" Scourge's eyes went wide.
__Sonic nodded. "It's been messing with my head every time I think about it. It's really hard to talk about it. There's already someone I like."
__"...Who?" Scourge asked.
__Sonic shut his eyes and pointed at Scourge. "You," He opened his eyes and crossed his arms. "I don't know how it happened. It shouldn't even have happened. I just wanted to help you. I didn't ask for this. It just started taking control," He sighed and forced himself to lock his gaze with Scourge's. "I don't just like you. I love you. I'm bringing up the courage to say this now. This is me confessing to you. That's it. That's all there is."
__Scourge was silent. He looked bewildered by Sonic's words. Sonic had hope about the situation before Scourge spoke. "Sonic...I don't..." He shook his head and started rubbing his temples. "You're a good friend, Sonic. The best I've ever had. But I don't see you...that way."
__Sonic felt his heart shatter. All of his confidence had vanished from Scourge's words. He wanted to scream. This is exactly what I was afraid of! He started to get angry. But he wasn't mad at Scourge. He was mad at himself. "Why did I think something different would happen?" He muttered.
__Scourge perked his ears. "Sonic?"
__Sonic's stomach started boiling as more anger started flowing through his body. "I always have to be this stupid!" He yelled. "Nothing ever happens the way you want it! That's fucking life!" Sonic then started laughing, which scared Scourge. "I should've confessed to that stupid deer before he left! An animal can't break my heart like a person would!"
__Scourge flattened his ears and tried to reach out to Sonic. "I didn't..."
__Sonic backed away and glared at him while trying to stop himself from crying. "I believed I could tell you without any trouble, and look where that got me! I can't rely on you! I can't even rely on my own friends! That's it then! I'm destined to die alone!" A single tear escaped from Sonic's eyes as he started untying the bandana around his neck. He then threw it on the ground and ran off into the woods, not even bothering to check if Scourge would chase after him. He managed to bring up his speed after going through that excitement. He stopped running when he found himself by a cliff. More tears fell from his eyes as he started panting. This is just like my break up with Sally! I'm such an emotional wreck when it comes to shit like this! He sat down and started wiping his eyes. Just forget about everything. Just sit here and die alone.
__"Sonic," A voice spoke.
__Sonic perked his ears and turned around to look at the woods. He stood up and started walking towards them. "Who's there?"
__"Sonic, it's me," That was Scourge's voice.
__Sonic backed away when Scourge came out of the woods. He had his red glasses over his eyes and wore a bright smile. "Hey! Come now, don't be upset. I'm here. Everything's okay." He held his arms out.
__Sonic hesitated before he reluctantly walked over to Scourge. Why did he even bother? What has he got to say after what happened? But Sonic wasn't mad anymore. He wanted to be with Scourge and he was allowing him to. Sonic stopped right in front of Scourge and smiled. "Why are you...?" Sonic dropped his smile as he examined Scourge's face. Through the red lenses, there was a bright light in Scourge's eyes. Sonic then got a weird feeling by the way Scourge was looking at him. His heart then sank. That's not Scourge! Sonic jumped back and barely got away from the green hedgehog's arms as he tried to grab him. Sonic landed on his feet and raised his fists up. "Who are you!?"
__"Wow! I'm surprised you didn't fall for it," The hedgehog's voice had changed. He now sounded like a computer. "All my other victims fell for my illusions. You didn't. You're very smart!" The green hedgehog then turned into Sonic. But it wasn't Sonic. His supposing blue fur was painted metal and his arms, muzzle, and chest were gray. His eyes were black with red glowing irises and he had three big claws on both his hands.
__Sonic backed up as his eyes grew wide. "You're...you're that robot! You're the one that killed Fiona and all those innocent people!"
__"Correct!" The robot responded brightly. "I am the robot that killed all those people. It's nice to finally meet you, Sonic. A real honor."
__Sonic narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth. "So, do you plan on killing me, Mr. Robot? If so, you're not doing a very good job."
__The robot laughed and shook his head. "Mr. Robot? My creator gave me a name, you know?"
__"And what's that?" Sonic growled.
__"I am Super Metal Sonic," The robot replied. "I was supposed to be Eggman's greatest robot. That is until I escaped."
__"Escaped?"
__"He gave me free will," He explained. "And I didn't want him to use me. I wanted to test and see what I could do. It turns out I'm great at killing people!"
__Sonic felt his exhaustion come back as his vision started to blur a bit. "You sick bastard!" He tried to walk forward, but he nearly fell.
__Super Metal Sonic laughed maniacally as he slowly walked towards Sonic. "It must feel pretty shameful that you're about to die exhausted and alone," He stopped right in front of Sonic and smiled, showing his metal fangs. "No one is here to save you!"
__He brought up his right arm and swung it at Sonic. Sonic tired jumping back, but the claws pierced through his throat and chest, nearly hitting bone. Sonic collapsed onto the ground and started coughing and panting. He was coughing out blood as he tried to stop the bleeding on his throat.
__Metal Super Sonic was about to strike again when he looked into the woods. He then smirked and looked down at Sonic. "Until next time!" He jumped off the cliff and turned invisible as he fell down.
__Sonic continued to cough and started trembling. Not like this! Not like this! He pleaded. He was about to close his eyes when he heard someone running towards him. He looked over to his side and saw Scourge had found him. He was holding the cyan bandana in his right hand and was panting. When he saw Sonic, his eyes went wide.
__"NO!!!" Scourge ran over to Sonic and knelt down next to him. He was examining Sonic's wounds as his eyes started to water. "Not again! Not again!" He placed the bandana down on Sonic's chest and hugged him. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" He cried out.
__Sonic struggled to speak as he coughed up more blood. He wanted to hug Scourge back but he couldn't move. You came for me after all. I wish you didn't. You wouldn't see me like this.
__Scourge leaned back as tears started pouring down his cheeks. He wiped his eyes and stood up. "I'll get help. I won't let you die, too!" He started running back into the woods and screaming, "Someone help! Please! He's dying!"
__Sonic's body started spazzing as he lay there. He began crying from the pain. As Scourge's cry for help continued to fill the air, Sonic's vision turned balck.
