Positives and Negatives {Sonourge}

TWENTY-SEVEN

__Sonic had finished wrapping the bandages around Tails' forearm. He took a second to look over what he did before he set Tails' arm down and stood up from the couch. He saw Scourge standing by the back window, looking into the woods. Sonic walked over to him and crossed his arms. "Staring outside isn't going to make Knuckles come any faster," He said teasingly.
__"I know!" Scourge sneered. "I'm just keeping an eye out."
__Sonic smiled and went back to the couch to sit next to Tails. "So, why did you want to change strategies?"
__"I kept thinking about the first one and how we could improve it," Tails explained. "Don't you think this one is better?"
__Sonic nodded. "Of course I do."
__Tails grinned as he looked at Scourge. "So, what happened with you two?"
__Sonic flattened his ears and felt his face heat up. "Um...I don't really know."
__"Were you planning on telling me?"
__"Yeah, just not so soon," Sonic brought his legs up and hugged his knees. "I wanted me and Scourge to settle down first."
__"That's fine," Tails remarked brightly. "but you will tell the others when you're ready, right?"
__"Why wouldn't I?"
__Tails giggled and shook his head. "Shadow's not gonna let that down, you know?"
__Sonic snorted and set his legs down. "Yeah. Instead of calling me Faker, he'll start calling me Fagot."
__"Oh no!" Tails continued to laugh.
__Sonic shook his head and sighed. "Damn. Do you think Knuckles would mind?"
__"He doesn't really care," Tails pointed out. "But he'll probably not like it at first."
__"Especially since it's me," Sonic agreed. 
__"I'm sure he'll adjust. When will you tell him?"
__Sonic looked out the window. "Since both you and Knuckles are my best friends, I'll probably tell him when he gets here."
__"Isn't Sally your best friend, too? You grew up with her."
__Sonic looked back at Tails. "Yeah, but she has enough to worry about."
__"Hey, I think that's him," Scourge said aloud.
__Both Sonic and Tails stood up and walked over to him. They looked out the window and saw a red echidna covered in dirt and mud walking over to the house. Sonic immediately went to open the back door until the echidna came in.
__"Hey, Knux!" Sonic greeted brightly. "Everything set?"
__"Yeah!" Knuckles then yawned. "Took all morning!"
__"Did you make sure to exit the ground outside of the woods?" Tails asked carefully.
__Knuckles nodded. "Popped out in the park in the city. I scared a lot of people."
__"And you came in through the backyard?" Scourge questioned.
__Knuckles slowly looked at Scourge and his eyes grew wide. "When did he get here!?"
__"Knuckles, we told you what happened," Sonic reminded him.
__"Yeah, but why is he here!?"
__"Where is he supposed to go?" Tails asked as he rolled his eyes. "You were told Sonic was paying off his debt, so of course he's going to be here."
__Scourge just snorted and started walking into the bedroom. He looked at Sonic before he shut the door.
__Sonic sighed as he shook his head. "Are you that forgetful, Knux?"
__Tails then smirked. "Pretty sure Julie-Su is always complaining about that."
__"Shut up!" Knuckles barked. "There's been a lot going on!"
__"Of course there has," Sonic replied sarcastically.
__"You just spend all your time standing next to the Master Emerald," Tails added sarcastically as well. "So of course there's so many things happening."
__"I oughta beat the shit out of the both of you!" Knuckles sneered.
__Both Sonic and Tails started laughing and went to hug Knuckles.
__"We're just messing with you, bro!" Sonic said. "Don't take it too seriously!"
__"Yeah, come on! It's all in good fun!" Tails pointed out.
__"Well, I'm not laughing," Knuckles grumbled.
__Sonic began rubbing Knuckles' head. "That's because you don't know how to laugh!"
__Knuckles began to smile after a while and hugged Sonic and Tails back. "Damn, I missed you guys."
__They all pulled away and looked at each other. Sonic had examined Knuckles and chuckled. "Go take a shower, man! You just tracked dirt in my house!" He said jokingly.
__Knuckles looked down at the floor behind him and nodded. "Sure thing." He then made his way into the bathroom and shut the door behind him.
__"You're going to have fun cleaning this up," Tails snickered.
__"Nu-uh!" Sonic said as he got his broom from the kitchen. "I helped you with your arm, you help me clean."
__"Aw man!" Tails laughed as he went to get a second broom.

__It didn't take long to clean up and for Knuckles to get out of the bathroom. The three of them were sitting on the couch and catching up with each other. Scourge had stayed in the room during all this. Sonic was waiting for the right moment to tell Knuckles about him and Scourge. This would be his first time actually coming out to someone. Tails would often give Sonic looks as if he was waiting for Sonic to tell Knuckles and it made him nervous.
__"Now how 'bout you, Sonic?" Knuckles asked. "What's been going on?"
__Sonic brought his legs up and crisscrossed them before he spoke. "Oh, nothing much. Just paying a large sum of money for someone else, almost dying for the millionth time, and bringing back my guitar and singing skills."
__Knuckles snorted and shook his head. "Wow."
__Sonic looked at Tails and saw he was still giving him that look. Sonic sighed and nodded before he looked at Knuckles. "Actually, that's not all."
__"Oh?" Knuckles tilted his head. "What then?"
__Sonic avoided eye contact as he answered. "Yeah um...I'm gay..."
__Knuckles leaned back a bit as he looked around the room. "Not with me, right?"
__"Ew! No!" Sonic chuckled as he lightly punched Knuckles on the arm. "You're too gross for my taste."
__"Hey!" Knuckles pushed Sonic back into Tails. 
__Both Sonic and Tails laughed as they tried to straighten themselves.
__"So you're actually gay?" Knuckles questioned.
__Sonic nodded. "Yeah," He then looked at the floor. "And...I already have a boyfriend," He added quietly.
__"Who?"
__Sonic felt Tails nudging his arm as he looked at Knuckles. He made a big awkward smile as he flattened his ears. "Scourge."
__Knuckles was silent for a few seconds. "Come again?" He said in disbelief.
__"Scourge."
__"What the fuck!?" Knuckles yelled out.
__Sonic looked away and crossed his arms. "Is there something wrong with that?" He grumbled.
__"Not with being gay!" Knuckles blurted out quickly. "Just with him!"
__"What's wrong with him!? He's done nothing wrong in the present."
__"That's not what I mean!" Knuckles started rubbing his temples. "He's your counterpart. That means you're literally dating yourself."
__"That's what you're concerned with?" Tails asked in annoyance. "Why does that matter!?"
__"I don't know, man! It just seems weird!"
__"Well it doesn't matter anyway," Sonic said promptly. "Scourge is my lover now, and nothing's going to change that."
__"Look, Sonic, I get it," Knuckles said carefully. "You've haven't had the best relationship with your ex-girlfriends, and Amy ended her crush on you. I don't care that you're gay. That's a normal thing nowadays. It just caught me by surprise that you chose Scourge."
__"I didn't choose him," Sonic said. "It just happened."
__Knuckles just nodded and didn't say anything else.
__Tails scooted closer to Sonic and looked over at Knuckles. "How was everything underground?"
__"One of my traps nearly collapsed on me," Knuckles replied. "That should be a good sign."
__While they talked, Sonic couldn't help but stare at his bedroom door. He felt bad for excluding Scourge, so he decided to stand up and go into the room. He shut the door behind him and found that Scourge had taken a nap on the bed. Sonic smiled as he climbed on the bed and placed himself over Scourge. "Hey, come on."
__Scourge groaned as he opened his eyes. He turned on his back and looked up at Sonic with his ears flattened. "What'd I do?"
__Sonic shook his head. "Nothing. I don't like you being alone in my room."
__"You want me to socialize with Tails and Knuckles?" Scourge groaned.
__Sonic nodded. "It's good for you to have more friends."
__"I'm not exactly good with those two," Scourge pointed out.
__"But don't you prefer them over their Moebius counterparts?"
__Scourge sighed. "Yeah, I guess." He then sat up, forcing Sonic to move back, and pressed his lips against Sonic's cheek. 
__Sonic giggled as he pulled away. "Come on. We're starting small." He got off the bed and led Scourge back into the living room.
