__They were finally back at Sonic's house after several minutes. Sonic allowed Scourge to go in first and followed after him. Scourge went to sit on the couch and looked out the window by the back door. He straightened and flattened his ears when he saw Buck was standing and staring at him.
__Sonic walked to the window and started tapping the glass. "Hey there, Buck. Watchu doin'?" He then laughed when Buck turned away and laid back down. "Cute little thing."
__"Biggest buck I've ever seen," Scourge remarked carefully.
__"Yeah," Sonic leaned back and crossed his arms as he examined Buck through the window. His chest and shoulders looked heavier than his hindquarters and his neck was wider than his face. "I'd say he's about three and a half years old then."
__"How long do they live?"
__"At least ten years I think," Sonic set his arms down and turned to look at his phone on the coffee table. He went over to pick it up and saw that Tails had called him more than fifteen times. He started calling him and looked at Scourge as he walked towards his room. "I'll be a minute," He then shut the door and went to sit on his bed when Tails finally answered. "What's going on?"
__"Why haven't you answered the phone!?" Tails had yelled, catching Sonic off guard.
__"I'm sorry!" Why is everyone yelling at me today!? "I was in the city, and it's not like I have any pockets to put my phone in," Sonic paused for a moment and started grumbling. "You're not suggesting I wear pants, are you?"
__"Ew, no," Tails responded in disgust. "I would never want that from you."
__"Good," Sonic said in relief. "Now why were you calling me so many times?"
__"The lab finally called me back!"
__Sonic straightened and as he stood up. "They did!? What did they say!?" He didn't care that he yelled that out. He was too excited.
__"Well, they didn't find out who killed Fiona," Tails began. "They just know how she died."
__Sonic growled and sat back on the bed. "Well, whoopty-do! So do we!"
__"It's more than that," Tails continued. "They found traces of metal in her wounds."
__"Metal?" Sonic perked his ears. "So it could've been Eggman?" He asked in disbelief.
__"Most likely."
__"But that doesn't make any sense! Eggman didn't even know her!"
__"I know," Tails sighed. "I'm going to try to talk to Antoine about sneaking into Eggman's base in a few days and find out what happened. You interested?"
__"Yeah, but I got Scourge back in my house again. And I don't want to take any serious action until we're sure about this."
__"When did...?" Tails paused for a few seconds. "Never mind. I get it. I think it would be safer if it was just me and Ant anyway. I'll keep you updated if we learn anything new."
__"When, Tails. Not if."
__Tails sighed and started laughing. "I'll keep you updated when we learn anything new. Happy?"
__"Very. See ya around, bud." Sonic hung up the phone and threw it on the bed. He stood up and walked back into the room. He straightened when Scourge was looking at him with concern.
__"What's going on?"
__Sonic looked away and crossed his arms. "Well...we kinda know what happened to Fiona. The lab found traces of metal on her, so Tails and I are assuming it was one of Eggman's robots."
__Scourge flattened his ears and looked down. "Eggman? Why?"
__"We're not completely sure it was him," Sonic replied quickly. "We'll find out in a few days if it was true or not."
__Scourge stayed silent as he laid down on his side and faced the back of the couch.

__A few days passed. Tails and Antoine didn't find anything that could've connected Eggman to Fiona's death. It still remained a mystery, but Sonic wasn't willing to give up. Scourge had fully settled in now. He got to the point where he stopped asking Sonic for food when he was hungry and if he could use his shower when he wanted to. Buck was able to walk around without falling, and his wounds were starting to fade. Sonic tried getting Buck to leave and go back into the woods, but he wouldn't budge. Sonic then decided that if he stopped giving Buck vegetables he would leave in a while. But that wasn't the case. The deer would just eat the grass around him and Sonic couldn't do anything about that.
__Sonic had actually grown closer to Scourge. He always made Scourge smile and laugh when they talked. They would even sometimes rough house when one of them got annoyed but in a playful way. Scourge was still upset of course, but he was feeling so much better.
__Sonic had just come back from Tails' house. He had a box filled with ten warp rings. One for each month he had to go to the No Zone to give them his monthly payment. He held the box in his left arm and opened the door to his house with his right hand. He went inside and saw Scourge's head through the back window. Sonic set the box on the coffee table and went to the window to see what was happening. Scourge was just standing in front of Buck, who was standing and chewing something in his mouth. Sonic giggled and went outside.
__"Why are you looking at me like that?" Scourge asked the deer.
__"What's going on?" Sonic stood next to Scourge.
__Scourge had his arms crossed as he looked at Sonic. "Nothing. Just being stupid like always."
__"You're not stupid," Sonic rolled his eyes. "Are you attempting at getting him to leave?"
__"I don't even know," Scourge muttered. "He just stands there and looks at anyone outside. It's weird."
__"It's an animal," Sonic reminded him. "They're always weird."
__Scourge nodded as his ears drooped forward. "I just don't understand why this deer is alive."
__Sonic sighed as he wrapped his arm around Scourge's shoulder. "I don't either. There was a rabbit with those wounds as well and it was alive. It could just be that the animals have better senses than us, so they know when something's there before they see them."
__"Yeah," Scourge leaned his head onto Sonic's. "Still hurts, though."
__Sonic didn't dare move his head as he tightened his grip on Scourge. "I know," He said softly. "I know. You will have justice, Scourge. Just know you're not alone." He then rubbed his head against Scourge's. He didn't like what he was doing. It's just for comfort. It doesn't have to be weird.
