__After two months, everything was back to normal. Sonic had followed what Scourge said about becoming a professional singer. It took a while, but Sonic became just that. He only performed in the city, but that was enough for him. Each time he had a concert, he always had a new song he wrote and would sing covers of other songs after them. He loved it. His friends and family would show up for every concert, and Scourge was always backstage, watching Sonic with a big smile on his face. Sonic would always sing while playing his acoustic guitar, but he sometimes played with his red electric guitar after Sally found it. Sometimes he would have Tails and Knuckles help him as well. Tails would play bass and Knuckles would be playing the drum. Everyone was happy.
__Sonic also bought a new house. This house was two stories tall. Inside it had two living rooms (one upstairs and one downstairs), one kitchen, two bedrooms upstairs, three bathrooms (two upstairs and one downstairs), a dining room, and an office room next to the downstairs living room. He had to use some of his family money and the money he earned from performing to pay for this house.
__Scourge's debt with the No Zone was fully paid off. When Sonic started his career and started making money, he would add that money to his share of the royal family money. Since Sonic had felt good about this, he paid off the rest of the debt the last time he went to the No Zone. Sonic also convinced the No Zone Prison to have visitation. He recalled how Flying wanted Scourge to visit, but Zone Jail didn't have the visitation. Scourge was a bit concerned about it, but he didn't argue. The visitation would take some time to develop, though, since Zone Jail was still fixing its own things.
__Of course, Sonic and Scourge told everyone about their relationship. They were all shocked and concerned at first, but everyone got used to it rather quickly. They didn't treat Sonic and Scourge any differently. Sometimes Shadow and Knuckles would poke fun, but it wasn't that bad.
__After the whole city found out about Super Metal Sonic being destroyed, they had a special place where they buried all the victims. Fiona had her own place in the front row while the others were buried in rows behind her. When everything was set up, everyone was there to grieve for their losses. At first, all of the Freedom Fighters would go visit Fiona every Sunday, but they soon dropped in numbers. Now the only ones who still went every Sunday were Sonic, Scourge, Sally, Tails, and Amy. They were the only ones who weren't willing to stop visiting Fiona.
__Sonic still had the purple Chaos Emerald in his drawer in the new house. He would often wonder what Fiona was doing in the afterlife with Tikal. He would often expect Fiona to visit again, but she never did. Sonic had no intention of getting rid of the Chaos Emerald, though. Only if he and his friends needed all seven for something. He still missed Fiona, and he knew Scourge did, too. But they had each other now, and they were more than happy.__Sonic had just finished his performance in the city. He threw up a peace sign to the crowd before taking his guitar and walking backstage. His smile grew bigger as he heard the cheering grow louder. He stopped walking when he was next to Scourge and gave him his guitar before they both started walking home.
__When they got home Scourge set the guitar by the front door and Sonic went into his office room. His office had a desk with a desktop on it, a recording mic set and a keyboard connected to the computer, papers scattered everywhere, and sound foam panels all over the walls. Man, I need to clean up here. He began gathering up all the papers and stacked them neatly in one of his drawers. He checked his emails on his computer, but none of them interested him so he left the office.
__Scourge was in the kitchen, washing all the dishes that were in the sink. He looked up when Sonic walked over and looked back at what he was doing. "What's up?"
__Sonic didn't answer. He just wrapped his arms around Scourge and kissed his cheek.
__Scourge snorted and turned off the sink. He then grabbed a towel and dried his hands. "Hey, there's something bothering me."
__Sonic's ears twitched as he pulled away from Scourge. "What's bothering you?"
__Scourge set the towel down and put his gloves back on. "What that cyborg said before I ripped its head off. It said it won't be the last."
__Sonic crossed his arms and shook his head. "He probably meant he wasn't going to be the last deadly machine Eggman would make. Don't overthink it."
__"I don't know," Scourge muttered. "It doesn't sit well with me."
__Sonic grabbed both of Scourge's hands and looked into his eyes. "What does it matter? It's not like we're living in tranquility. There's always going to be an adventure for us, whether it's good or bad."
__"Yeah," Scourge sighed.
__As Sonic continued to stare into Scourge's eyes, he began to wonder. What else lied ahead of him? Who else was going to try to kill others? What would he do next? He shook his head and tried to hide his concerned expression by hugging Scourge and burying his face in his shoulder. We're never done with anything, are we?
