Positives and Negatives {Sonourge}

EIGHT

__It was nightfall. Sonic had placed the peeled lettuce on the plate and brought it outside to Buck. When Buck started eating Sonic went back inside. He saw Scourge sitting on the couch while hugging his knees. He clearly wasn't happy.
__Sonic had already contacted both his father and sister about paying off Scourge's debt if the Zone Cops allowed it. They were both skeptical, but they were fine with it.
__Sonic sat down next to Scourge on the couch and waited until he looked at him. "You need to eat, Scourge. I can make you something."
__Scourge's ears were drooped forward. His eyes showed sorrow as he replied. "I don't care."
__Sonic stifled a sigh and went into the kitchen. He pulled out two cups of Ramen from one of his bottom cabinets and set them on the counter. He peeled them open and poured water into both cups. He then opened the microwave and put the cups in for five minutes. While he waited, he got on his phone and checked to see if anyone posted videos of him speaking with the Zone Cops. He was glad to see there wasn't anything. After the microwave went off, Sonic went to open it and take both cups out. He set them down on the table with forks and went to the fridge and grabbed two water bottles. As he set the bottles next to the cups, he looked at Scourge and called him over. "Come and get it!"
__Scourge reluctantly stood up and slowly walked over to the table. He sat down in one of the chairs and waited as Sonic set the cup in front of him.
__Sonic sat down across from Scourge as he began eating. He grabbed a fork and scooped up some of the noodles. He carefully blew at it before taking a bite and slurping it up. He was satisfied with the taste after he swallowed and continued eating. He only ate half of the noodles when he decided he was done. He then saw that Scourge had already finished and was looking out the window. I guess he really doesn't provide for himself. He is a bit skinny. Sonic stood up and pushed his cup over to Scourge. "You can have the rest. I'm done."
__Scourge looked at Sonic in shock. He hesitated before he grabbed the cup and started eating again.
__Sonic took this time to check on Buck. He went outside and saw that the stars were already coming out. Buck was lying down while eating some of the grass around him. Sonic grabbed Buck's blanket and put it on him. After checking to see if the water bowl was full, Sonic went back inside and into his room. He grabbed the spare blanket and pillow and went to put them on the couch.
__Scourge was standing in the kitchen. He was throwing the Ramen cups in the trash and was about to wash the forks in the sink.
__Sonic went up to him immediately and pointed to the couch. "Get some sleep. You don't need to do this."
__Scourge obeyed and walked over to the couch.
__Once Sonic was done washing the forks, he went to check on Scourge. He didn't even attempt to sleep. Sonic just grabbed the remote and handed it to Scourge. "If you're not tired, you can watch some T.V. I'm heading to bed."
__Scourge grabbed the remote and examined it.
__Sonic walked to his bedroom and held the doorknob. He turned to look at Scourge. "Please don't try leaving in the middle of the night. I'll just hunt you down and bring you back. Got it?"
__Scourge nodded and turned on the T.V.
__Sonic went inside his room and shut the door. He leaned on it and let out a sigh of relief. Finally! I can't stop worrying now. He looked down at his bandana and started rubbing it with his fingers. All that trouble just for him. He let go and took his shoes off. After setting them on a stool, he laid himself in bed and pulled the covers over him. He could hear faint sounds of the T.V., but it was soothing.

__Sonic was happy to see that Scourge was still sleeping on the couch in the morning. He saw that Scourge's sunglasses were on the coffee table while his shoes were on the floor next to the couch. The T.V. was still on, so Sonic went over to it and pushed the button on the T.V. to turn it off since he didn't want to get the remote from next to Scourge's face.
__He then went outside to get Buck's plate and put some lettuce on it. When he was walking to the door Scourge started moving, but Sonic didn't pay much attention to it. He went back outside and placed the plate in front of Buck and watched him start eating it. Sonic grinned as he looked at the dirt patch that surrounded the deer. "You still manage to stuff your face, don't you?" He then pulled the blanket off of him and checked Buck's wounds. They were dry now and scabbed. Sonic then decided he didn't need to give him any more antibiotics.
__Sonic heard knocking from the front door and went back inside to see who it was. He saw that Scourge was sitting up and stretching while he walked. Sonic opened the front door and was surprised to see Zonic standing there with his arms crossed. Sonic stepped outside and shut the door behind him. "I suppose they said something about my offer?"
__Zonic nodded. "The chief and warden both agree it would be better for you to pay for the damages rather than bringing Scourge to Zone Jail only to be bailed out the next day."
__Sonic stifled a sigh and nodded. "Great. I hope there's no hard feelings."
__Zonic didn't make a remark to that. He just asked a question. "What happened to Fiona Fox?"
__Sonic crossed his arms and looked at the ground. "We're still trying to figure it out, but someone killed her. They somehow sliced her stomach to where her organs could spill."
__"I see," Zonic said softly. "What about the Destructix?"
__"From what I've heard, they abandoned Scourge and Fiona weeks before she died," Sonic replied. "I don't know where they are if that's what you need."
__"That's fine. We can find them on our own," Zonic then smirked. "Unless you want to pay for their crimes as well?"
__Sonic smiled and shook his head. "Nah! The frog creeps me out too much."
__Zonic laughed before handing Sonic a piece of paper. "Here's what we've decided on with the payments. I hope you mean what you said yesterday about being able to afford it."
__Sonic grabbed the paper and nodded. "I'll manage. Is that all?"
__"Yes. Now I'll be off then. Good luck with that one," Zonic said before walking away.
__Sonic went back inside and leaned on the door as he read through the paper. His eyes went wide. The total cost was five-hundred thousand dollars. There were different payments Sonic could choose from to pay monthly for. Sonic figured he could afford to pay fifty grand to them a month with his share of the family money. It's a stretch, but that's just ten months. It's not like I was trying to save up for anything either. But I'll have to talk to Sonia about it. Sonic set the paper down on a desk by the door and looked at Scourge, who was still sitting on the couch and looking at Sonic. "I'll be making breakfast now. You can freshen up in the bathroom if you want. I have an unopened box of toothbrushes you could use."
__Scourge slowly nodded and went into the bathroom. He shut the door softly, making a long creeeeeeek as it closed.
__Sonic let out a sigh and went into the kitchen. He set up the frying pans on the oven and got some eggs out of the fridge. He won't even talk. Is he that upset? Of course he is. Stop being stupid. He just needs time to adjust.
