Positives and Negatives {Sonourge}

THIRTEEN

__The beginning of the next month came around. Sonic had his envelope with the fifty thousand dollars inside in his left hand and one warp ring in his right. He had encouraged Scourge to come with him to the No Zone. Scourge wasn't too happy, but he convinced himself he wanted to stay near Sonic out loud, which confused Sonic.
__When they were outside, Sonic tossed the warp ring on the ground and watched it grow bigger. He could see inside the ring the No Zone land. There were futuristic-looking buildings and mobiles flying everywhere. The only thing odd about it was that the ring showed the zone on its side. The No Zone had weird gravity that only they could control. While Sonic and Scourge would stand sideways on a wall when they got in, the No Zoners would be standing on their ground until they helped them.
__Sonic turned his head to look at Scourge. "You sure you actually wanna come?"
__Scourge nodded. "It's not like I'll be arrested on the spot, right?"
__Sonic let out a chuckle. "Right!" He looked back at the ring portal and hopped in. He found himself standing on a random brick wall that was next to the warp ring. The right side of his head was next to the ground, making Sonic nervous. You've been here before. He reminded himself.
__Scourge then jumped through the ring and stood next to Sonic on the brick wall. He flattened his ears as he scanned the area. He groaned. "Forgot how much I hated the gravity here," He muttered.
__Sonic nodded and looked around. His eyes landed on a crocodile wearing the Zone Cop uniform walking towards them on the ground. Sonic put on a smile and waved at him. "Hey there!"
__The crocodile stopped in front of the brick wall and tilted his head to where he saw Sonic's face correctly. "Hey, Sonic. Let me help you down." He held grabbed Sonic's hand and yanked him off the wall until he sat on the ground. He didn't let go until Sonic was used to the gravity and looked at Scourge. "Well, well, well. Look who's back."
__"It's not for the reason you think," Scourge informed in an annoyed tone.
__"Yeah, Yeah, I know. Zonic told me what was happening." The crocodile then grabbed Scourge's arm and yanked him onto the ground next to Sonic.
__Sonic stood up and started waving with the envelope in his hand. "Where do I go for this?"
__"That's why I'm here," The Zone Cop replied. "I'll be taking you there so there aren't any problems."
__"How convenient," Scourge muttered as he stood up.
__Sonic began snapping his fingers by his head as he tried remembering the Zone Cops name. "Zector?"
__"Yep! Come on." Zector led Sonic and Scourge into one of the mobiles and let them go in first. Sonic sat in the front with Zector while Scourge stayed in the back. While Zector was starting the engine, he looked at Sonic and grinned. "Cool bandana."
__Sonic smiled back. "Thanks! Scourge gave it to me."
__"Did he now?" Zector asked in disbelief. The engine then started roaring and the mobile was flying through the air.

__It took several minutes for Zector to lead Sonic and Scourge to the right office in the building they were in. There were many Zone Cops and attorneys in the building. Zonic was one of them.
__He was standing next to the office they needed to go to. He greeted Sonic with a smile until his eyes landed on Scourge. "You brought him?"
__"I wanted him to come if that's all right?" Sonic responded carefully. Scourge was slowly moving behind Sonic, making him a bit uncomfortable.
__Zonic nodded and motioned to the office. "We have someone ready. Just to be safe, how much are you paying?"
__Sonic flattened his ears and avoided eye contact. "Fifty grand," He replied quietly.
__Zonic's eyes went wide. "You can afford that monthly!?"
__Sonic nodded. "I told you I'm a part of a royal family. I can spare that much for ten months."
__Zonic didn't say anything else and kept motioning Sonic and Scourge to enter the office. It didn't take long and Zonic and Zector were standing by them the entire time. The man they were speaking with was making confirmations and Sonic was nervous as he did. After giving him the money, Sonic and Scourge quickly left the building while Zonic and Zector were still behind them. They stood in front of the entrance and looked at each other.
__"Y'all ready to leave?" Zonic asked. He then looked at Scourge. "Or do you want to see some old friends?"
__Scourge straightened and took a step back. "Why would I wanna do that!?"
__"There's a certain prisoner that was close to Fiona," Zonic explained. "And I think it would be better if she heard what happened from you."
__Sonic whipped his head to face Scourge and leaned in. "You don't have to if you don't want to," He whispered. "We can go straight back home."
__Scourge was silent for a few seconds. He sighed and crossed his arms as he looked away. "I'll...I'll tell her then."

__Sonic stayed as close to Scourge as possible as they entered Zone Jail. After hearing stories from Scourge about his time spent here, he didn't want anything bad to happen. They were greeted by the warden, who was shocked to see Scourge. Zonic had to explain what was going on and the warden led them through the prison.
__"The prisoners are on their lunch right now," He explained. "Which prisoner did you want to speak with?"
__"Abby Koala," Zonic replied. "She was Fiona's cellmate."
__"Abby?" The warden sounded confused.
__"The prisoner you had for thirty fucking years," Scourge growled.
__"Scourge!" Sonic shot him a warning look.
__"Ah! That Abby," The warden chuckled. "She's been rather upset since your jailbreak."
__They stopped at the kitchen entrance. Zector was the one to enter and walk around the cafeteria. After a few minutes, he came back while walking behind a big brown female koala. She wore a silver earring in her left ear and her tattoo on her left arm was a red heart that read Jellystars. When she saw Scourge her eyes went wide and she tried backing away, but Zector stayed behind her.
__"What's going on!?" She asked. "Why's Sno--I mean Scourge here!?"
__Sonic elbowed Scourge and motioned his hand to her. "You wanted to tell her."
__Scourge flattened his ears as he sighed. "I'll make this quick, Abby. Your old cellmate's dead."
__"My cellmate?" Abby then straightened. "You mean Fiona!? What happened!?"
__Scourge didn't respond. He turned around and started walking away. He kept his ears down as he walked.
__Sonic looked up at Abby. "We're still trying to figure out what happened. All we know is that someone killed her."
__Abby looked down at her feet. "A real shame. She was a decent woman."
__Sonic then turned around and ran after Scourge. "Hey!" He stopped running when he was next to him. "We have to wait for them." He gestured to Zonic and Zector, who were walking to catch up to them.
__"I'm not waiting," Scourge replied bitterly. "I did what I wanted, now I want to go back."
__"And to do that we need them. I didn't bring an extra warp ring, and those other rings I have are for entering this zone."
__"Why didn't you get more then?"
__"It's not easy for us to get a warp ring on Mobius, Scourge. It was hard for me to get those ten."
__"Don't you have that machine you used to send me back to Moebius before you brought me to this fucking hell hole!?"
__"Destroyed!" Sonic replied coldly, making Scourge stop walking when he did. "You probably don't even want to come back next month, but for now you need to cooperate here," He then sighed when Scourge looked down at his feet. "I'm not mad, Scourge. You just need to know."
__"Everything all right here?" Zonic asked when he was next to Sonic.
__Sonic grinned and looked at Zonic. "Yeah. Sorry about that. We're ready now."
__"We need to do this outside just in case," Zonic informed him.
__Sonic nodded and he and Scourge followed the two Zone Cops outside. Zonic pulled out a warp ring and threw it on the ground. After the ring grew big, it revealed the front of Sonic's house, but it was on its side. Sonic allowed Scourge to go first and watched him jump in. He was about to jump in after him when Zonic started speaking.
__"If you see the Destructix, you call me immediately," He said in a serious tone. "If we can't have Scourge or Fiona, then we need them."
__Sonic nodded at the Zone Cop before looking at the portal. He made a big inhale and exhale before he jumped through the ring.
