TWENTY-FIVE

__Sonic and Scourge stood in front of his father's house door for a few minutes. Sonic was trying to figure out how to explain why he brought Scourge with him. He wanted to say Scourge didn't want to be alone, but that wouldn't go well with Scourge. Maybe I'll just say I'm keeping watch. He looked at Scourge. "Do you mind if I say I'm watching you?"
__"Watching me for what?" Scourge asked.
__Sonic flattened his ears and looked at the door. "Because of your background," He replied quietly.
__Scourge sighed. "I don't care. Do what you want."
__Sonic groaned and hesitated before knocking on the door. They waited a few more minutes until the door opened and revealed a light blue hedgehog with a white mustache and eyebrows. Sonic put on a bright smiled as he waved at him. "Hey, Uncle Chuck!"
__"Hey there, Sonic!" Chuck returned the greeting. He then looked over at Scourge and narrowed his eyes. "What's going on here?"
__"I hope you don't mind," Sonic said promptly. "He has um...trouble with the Zone Cops. Until everything is sorted out, I'm keeping a close eye on him." He noticed Scourge roll his eyes and tried to stifle an annoyed growl.
__Before Chuck could make any remark, a yellow dog with brown spots ran out of the house and jumped on Sonic, making him fall backward. Sonic began laughing as the dog started licking his face nonstop. Scourge was staring down in confusion when Sonic managed to push the dog back a bit.
__"Hey there, Muttski! For an old dog, you can sure jump!" Sonic then began petting the dog.
__Muttski let out a raspy bark before running back in the house.
__Scourge helped Sonic stand on his feet and looked away when Chuck looked at him with suspicion.
__Sonic didn't like the tension. "Is everyone here already?"
__Chuck nodded. "Yeah, they're waiting for you." He then walked inside.
__Sonic looked at Scourge and frowned. "You can go back home if you want."
__But Scourge shook his head. "I'm committed. Don't worry."
__Sonic smiled and walked in the house with Scourge following behind slowly. He watched Muttski hop on the couch next to his mother and immediately went over to her. "Mom!"
__Aleena looked up and smiled. She stood up and hugged Sonic, shaking him a bit. "Oh, my baby! It's so good to see you!"
__"Mom, I'm twenty-eight," Sonic muttered.
__Aleena pulled away and rolled her eyes. "You'll always be my baby."
__Sonic heard Scourge snickering and turned his head to glare at him. He then looked around the room and saw everyone was here. Sonia and Manic had taken over the other couch and his father was standing next to them. Sonic elbowed Scourge and waited until he followed him over to Jules. "Hey, dad."
__Jules nodded and looked at Scourge. "Haven't seen you in a while. Are you feeling all right now?"
__Scourge looked away. "I guess."
__"Boy!" Sonic elbowed him again.
__Scourge snorted and crossed his arms. "Yeah. Things are going well."
__Jules smiled and looked back at Sonic. "How have you been, sport?"
__"Great!" Sonic then remembered what was happening. "Has anyone told you about Fiona's murder?"
__Jules shook his head. "No, not really. What happened?"
__Sonic crossed his arms and struggled to look at Jules in the eyes. "One of Eggman's robots escaped a month ago. That robot was the one who killed her and many others."
__Jules looked down at his feet and leaned back on the wall. "Of course its an Eggman robot."
__"It's not his doing, though."
__"I get it, but that doesn't change its evil background."
__Sonic uncrossed his arms and nodded. "I guess that's a good point." Sonic then saw Sonia stand up and walked over to Scourge.
__"Hi! We met already," Sonia greeted.
__Scourge took a step back a nodded. "We have."
__Manic then went to stand next to Sonia. "Cool leather! Where'd you get it?"
__"Moebius," Was all Scourge said.
__Manic tilted his head. "Is that a store?"
__"No."
__Sonic stood next to Scourge and looked at Manic. "Remember when I told you I was paying off Scourge's debt with the No Zone?" Manic nodded. "He's from another Zone. He's technically me."
__Manic narrowed one eye. "What do you mean by that?"
__"His legal name is Sonic. He just started calling himself Scourge."
__"But he's green."
__"That's because of the Master Emerald."
__"Dude, what?"
__"Ah, forget it," Sonic smiled awkwardly and shook his head. "I'll explain later."

__Sonic was sitting next to Scourge on the couch with Manic and Sonia sitting on his other side while Aleena, Jules, and Chuck sat on the other couch. Everyone, except for Scourge, were talking, catching up with each other. It was nice. Sonic felt reconnected with his family. They were talking about what they were doing. Manic finally told them about his job. He was an OTR (over the road) Truck Driver. It surprised everyone.
__"Since when did you become a truck driver!?" Sonic exclaimed.
__Manic leaned back and crossed his right leg over his left. "I like the long driving and I get paid to do so."
__"Damn," Sonic laughed quietly. "Wouldn't have expected that."
__"Why do you bother getting a job when you're royalty?" Scourge questioned.
__Manic just shrugged his shoulders.
__Sonic smirked and looked at Scourge. "You're asking that when you told me I could be a professional singer?"
__Scourge groaned and looked away. "I don't see you as a royalty figure," He muttered.
__"Hey!" Sonic lightly pushed Scourge and giggled. "Whatever! I could say the same thing, Mr. 'Hail to the king, baby!'"
__"Shut up!"
__Sonic laughed and flattened his ears when everyone was staring at him. "What?"
__Jules giggled as he straightened himself on the couch. "You two have gotten close."
__"Well, yeah," Sonic looked away. "We're roommates now."
__"Don't sound too proud now," Scourge remarked sarcastically.
__"So, what was that about being a professional singer?" Sonia asked while sounding interested.
__Sonic flattened his ears as he started scratching his face. "Scourge found my old acoustic and heard me sing. He's the one who suggested I'd become one."
__"Will you?"
__Sonic shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. I'm thinking about it."
__"Good," Scourge muttered. "Do something with your life other than smashing rusty robots."
__"I actually don't mind that," Sonic remarked. "That sounds like a good work out. But I'd rather have new ones."
__"You're literally stupid."
