TWENTY-FOUR

__After a few days, Sonic didn't need to wear his bandages anymore. There were still marks on his throat and chest, but he was told with his kind of body (being able to use chaos powers easily), they would fade away completely after a while. It didn't bother Sonic that much. The bandana covered part of his neck and chest so it wouldn't be that noticeable.
__It was around six in the morning and Sonic was already in the kitchen. He was making two cups of coffee for both him and Scourge, who was still sleeping in the bedroom. He made both cups sweet, but not too sweet. That's how he and Scourge liked it. When he was done he heard his phone go off in the room. He tried to make it back to his room but Scourge had already opened the door and handed Sonic the phone, his face stuck in a tired expression.
__"Either tell your friends to stop calling you this early or shut off your phone while I'm trying to sleep," He muttered bitterly.
__Sonic grinned awkwardly as he grabbed the phone, which was ringing a second time after a while. "Sorry. I made coffee!"
__Scourge groaned and started walking to the kitchen while rubbing his eyes.
__Sonic looked down at his phone and saw that it was his mother, Aleena, calling him. Sonic did not hesitate to answer it and sat on the couch. "Hey! It's been a minute!"
__He heard Aleena giggling. "Yes, it has."
__"Are you finally back from traveling?" Sonic asked. He then looked back and saw Scourge walking over while holding the two cups of coffee. He sat down next to Sonic and gave Sonic one of the cups before kissing him on the cheek. Sonic smiled as he put a finger over his mouth. "Quiet. I'm on the phone."
__Scourge giggle and rolled his eyes.
__"Why yes, I am home," Aleena replied. "I didn't think you knew I was out."
__"Yeah well...I found out about a month ago after visiting dad," Sonic remarked. "How was it?"
__"Eh...it was all right," She paused before continuing. "I heard what happened over there."
__Sonic sighed. "The robot murdering everyone? Yeah. Still trying to figure out how to find it."
__"I'm sure you'll prevail," Aleena assured him. "Anyway, just wanted to let you know I'm back and your father and I will be having Manic, Sonia, and Charles come over later. You interested?"
__"Yeah!" Sonic straightened up on the couch. "I'll be there."
__"You sure? What about the robot?"
__"It'll be fine!" Sonic reassured her. "There's more than just me, ya know?"
__"All right then. I'll be seeing you later."
__"Bye! Love you!" Sonic hung up the phone and flattened his ears when Scourge gave him this weird look.
__"Who's Aleena?" He asked suspiciously.
__Sonic lightly pushed Scourge back and took a sip of his coffee. "Relax, you jealous hog. It's just my mom."
__Scourge sat up and narrowed his eyes. "Jealous?" He then buzzed his lips. "Whatever."
__Sonic giggled as he leaned on Scourge. "You're so cute!"
__"Shut up!" Scourge barked. "I'm not cute!"
__Sonic leaned back and started pinching Scourge's cheek. "Yes, you are! You're like a grumpy cat!" He began laughing as he pulled his hand away.
__Scourge held a straight face as he crossed his arms. "Put your coffee on the table."
__"Why?" Sonic asked as he placed the cup on the coffee table.
__"So I can do this!" Scourge then pinned Sonic down and held him there. "Take it back!"
__Sonic chuckled as he tried pushing Scourge off of him. "No!"
__Scourge then smirked. "Then you leave me no choice." He started tickling Sonic.
__Sonic burst out laughing as he tried to move away. "No! Stop! Stop it! Scourge! Cut it out!" He managed to kick Scourge off the couch and he landed on the floor. Sonic quickly went to the edge of the couch and continued to laugh as he looked at Scourge. "You okay?"
__Scourge gave Sonic a thumbs up and dropped his hand on his stomach. "Now I know not to mess with you," He muttered.
__"Yep!" Sonic went to help Scourge stand up. "Just be glad I'm not Shadow. He'll punch you in the face...repeatedly."
__"Wouldn't dream of it," Scourge sat back down on the couch and started rubbing his quills. "So, what was that about with your mother?"
__Sonic grabbed his coffee off the table and took a sip before he spoke. "She's apparently gathering up the family for a little hangout. Since I haven't seen her in a while, I'll be going today."
__Scourge narrowed his eyes and started looking around the room. "You're going by yourself?"
__Sonic grinned and tilted his head. "Yeah. Did you want to come?"
__"No," Scourge looked at Sonic and flattened his ears. "But I don't..."
__"Aw! You don't wanna be alone!" Sonic giggled.
__Scourge's face turned red as he looked away. "That's not it!"
__"You can come with me, ya know?" Sonic sat next to Scourge and leaned on him. "My family won't mind. They see all my friends as part of the family."
__"But we're not friends," Scourge pointed out.
__Sonic rolled his eyes. "So what? That makes it better."
__"Do you plan on telling them?"
__"I have to sometime soon. Probably not today, though. I want to bond with them again before I try telling them."
__"It's your family," Scourge muttered.
__Sonic then looked up at Scourge. "They could be yours, too."
__Scourge didn't say anything.
__"Right," Sonic sat back up and looked away. "Now's not the time to think about that."
__Scourge leaned on Sonic and sighed. "I'll go with you at least. I know every one of your family members except for your mom."
__Sonic looked at Scourge and smirked. "You know the dog?"
__Scourge narrowed one eye. "What dog?"
__Sonic chuckled and started rubbing his head on Scourge's. "You'll see."
__Scourge wrapped one arm around Sonic and sighed. "What about the robot?"
__"There are others," Sonic pointed out. "If something goes wrong, they'll call me immediately."
__"Do they know?"
__"Yes, they know you'll be the one destroying Super Metal Sonic. They understand."
__"Good."
__Sonic started drinking his coffee again and looked out the front window. He couldn't help but wonder what happened to Buck. He wasn't worried, though. Just curious.
__"All right, I'll make breakfast now." Scourge stood up and made his way to the kitchen.
__"I wanna help!" Sonic put the coffee down and followed Scourge into the kitchen. He started helping Scourge make bacon and eggs. He was happy to finally be cooking again.
