"AHHHHH!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. "OMG YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO SEE THAT!!" Mae says entering inside. "WHY IS THIS HEAR?!?" The basement was covered with many pictures. The scariest part was that they were pictures of me... They weren't selfies I've taken that I post on my insta, they were taken by someone else. Someone who had been secretly taking pictures of me at random times. But I'm not alone... Grayson was in the pictures too. Every single picture I see were pictures of me and Grayson talking or hanging out with each other. Other pictures were two separate pictures of me and Grayson with a huge hearts circling around us. Many glowing hearts were covered in the walls which explain the bright red lights.
"Well, I Umm... ever since you guys were in high school, I found the relationship between you two reeeally cute that I kindaaa... well... i sometimes created pretend scenarios in my head of you two." She says twirling with her fingers. "WHAT?!" I say in disbelief. "SO YOU'VE BEEN TAKING PICTURES OF US AND HANGING THEM ON THE BASEMENT WALLS?!" I shout. "Well if you put it that way, it makes me look creepy but I can't help it! You two look so cute together!!" She says in a high pitched voice. "Okay stop!!!" I say before she continues. I slowly twirl, looking at all the hung up pictures, not knowing what to say. All of a sudden I hear more footsteps coming down. "Is everything okay?" Grayson yells from afar. My heart raises once again. I can't let him see this! He swung the door open "I heard yelling and I-" When he makes it down he pauses and looks at Mae with a furious face. "Mae, are you fucking serious...?" He says. "I know I know, I'm sorry I forgot to take them down!!" I whip off the sweat from my forehead trying to act calm as I watch both of them argue back and forward. "...so you know about this?" I say. "Yeah... unfortunately I do..." he sighs "She's had this ever since she slept over last year. I just never had the courage to go down there and take it off and I kinda forgot about it until I got the news that I was supposed to babysit her at my place. You better take this down!" He commands. "Yeah yeah..." Mae says dully, crossing her arms and facing her head down in ashamed. "In other news, the Christmas cookies are ready! Anyone want some?" She says walking back upstairs as we follow behind her. "Christmas already passed." Gray says. "So?? It's never too late for cookies!!" I lay on Graysons giant couch watching Netflix eating the old dried up popcorn that was on the table. Seconds later, Mae and Grayson both invited themselves onto the couch. I'm not to sure how I feel about getting anywhere near Grayson after I know what Mae was hiding. Which must be why Grayson is laying all the way on the other side of the couch from me. Speaking of Mae, she hands me some cookies she made on a plate which were covered in green frosting. "Oh shit! That reminds me!" Grayson says standing up from the couch. "Stay here" he says to both of us as he jogs to his room.
When he comes back I see him holding two beautifully wrapped gift. One is flat, wrapped in golden wrapping paper with a purple ribbon while the other is a large box wrapped in white christmas wrapping paper with a blue pink ribbon. He hands me the golden wrapped gift and Mae the huge white wrapped gift. "What is this?" I ask "A present...?" He laughs "It's not much since I didn't know either of you were gonna be here... but I hope you like em. I promise next year they'll be better presents." He puts both his hands on his waist as he waits for Mae to open her presents. I start unwrapping my gift but easily from the shape it's wrapped, it doesn't take a genius to figure out it's a card underneath all of it. I rip open the side he taped it on "Jayden" Grayson murmurs, I look up at him and see him shaking his head at me so I stop myself from continuing to open the gift. Although I basically already know what it is. He looks at Mae, and then back at me and leans closer to me, "wait till later" he whispers. "Awww!!" Mae says tightly hugging the teddy bear she got. She also got a huge chocolate box from her gift and a couple pink sweaters. "Did you like your present?" He says. "Yess thank you!! I could make so many chocolate brownies now!"
"Hey guys look outside!! I think we have new neighbors just across the street from us!!" Mae says pointing outside from the window. There was a huge moving truck and two men seeming to carry all the boxes inside their house. "We should go say hi to them!!" Mae says. "Maybe tomorrow, it's getting late right now. Besides, they seem to be busy." Grayson says. "Aww... fine."
Grayson shuts the lights as me and Mae both head upstairs to our bedroom. I entered my room and carelessly swing the door behind me. I heard something blocking the door from closing so I turned around and as expected, Grayson was standing in front of the doorway with his hands behind his back "Hey Jayden." he says shyly. "Oh hey Grayson... What's up?"
