Kabanata 9 : Gamble

Months passed by like a blur. Katatapos lamang ng aming pagpledge at si kuya ang pumunta para sa aming pledges.

Our intense trainings are done at pwede na kaming i-assign sa iba't-ibang kaso.

After months, years of hardship particularly on the training I would be assigned now! I really wanted to seek informations about the rebels who attacked us, I want to give them the nustice they deserve.

It's now a long-running case. Mula sa pagkalap ng impormasyon, paghahanap sa mga kuta ng mga rebelde. Nakakakuha man ng lead pero hindi sila nahuhuli. As what I've heard they can easily encourage people to stand against the government.

Iyon ang pinapangarap kong kaso. To stop the violence and to serve justice. Para sa lahat ng mga taong naapakan at napatay ng walang kasalanan.

"First Sergeant Quizon!" Kuya Third approached me and hugged me. "Congratulations!" He stroked my hair and so I smiled.

"Thank you, Captain." I said and formally gave him a salute. I am wearing my full military outfit, my hair is tied into a bun.

We ate in a resto as kuya's order to me para daw icelebrate ang pag-alis ko sa camp at ang pagsisimula ng pagserve ko sa bansang ito.

I chose to be a soldier that to be a doctor. Parehas na nagliligtas ng buhay ng mga tao pero mas mapanganib ang daang tatahakin ng sundalo kaysa sa doctor.

"I'll just take this call." Kuya's phone rang and he excused himself and went out of the resto.

I sipped on my juice and thinking what's ahead of me now I'm finished with my trainings.

I should really enjoy my free time habang wala pang naibibigay na kaso sa amin at dapat lagi din akong handa at on-call kapag kinailangan ng back-up.

Kuya drove back to the camp para ihatid ako at makuha ang ilan sa gamit ko. I'll be staying in Manila for four days habang naghihintay ng orders ng mas nakakataas sa amin.

"Thanks for the treat and the ride, Captain. See you! Mag-ingat ka." I gave him a salute and the latter gave me one too.

"Drive safely, Delle. Mag-ingat ka." Itinaas niya ang bintana at nagmaniobra na para mailiko ang kotse at makaalis na sa camp.

I waled towards my dorm for only to see who's standing at the entrance of it.

Command Sergeant Major Ryland Matteo Castañeda in his military outfit. He is very massive on the side of the entrance of the dorm. His blank face turned into a playful look when he saw me getting near him. He is holding a bouquet of red roses.

I stopped in front of him and I raised my brow on him at akmang lalagpasan na sana siya pero hinarangan niya ako at itinapat sa akin ang bouquet.
