Kabanata 37 : Batanes

"Let's take a vacation?" Ryland suggested while we're lying on the bed and he's caressing my hair softly.

Izla is still recovering in the mansion. Si ate Ailee na ang nagche-check sa kaniya doon at nitong mga nakaraang araw ay sunod sunod ang trabaho at ngayon lang nabakante.

"Pwede rin naman? Pero hindi ba masiyadong busy ang Headquarters ngayon?" I asked. Kasi halos lahat ay may kaniya kaniyang trabaho. Pinag-aaralan ang nangyaring ambush sa mga Journalists at Prosecution Teams sa Batangas.

"I got no assigned work for now, let's just take a break.. say three or four days?" Nakasandal siya sa headboard ng kama habang ako naman ay nakahiga sa kaniyang kandungan.

"Let's just take a formal leave for three days. The higher our positions go, the more tasks we do." Totoo naman iyon, but I got no regrets for being a soldier.

So as we planned we took a three day leave. Gladly na-approve naman siya kasi wala pa naman naka-assign sa amin sa ngayon.

Nandito na kami ngayon sa airport dahil pupunta kaming Batanes. Tag-isa kami ni Ryland ng maleta. He was wearing a whiteshort sleeve polo paired with khaki colored shorts paired with white sneakers, may nakasabit din sa kaniyang collar na aviators. He was casually scrolling on his phone while we're seated, waiting for our flight.

I am wearing a green floral off shoulder top partnered with white high waist shorts and strappy sandals.

Nagmumukha akong maliit kapag katabi ko si Ryland. He's very massive and tall and could catch everyone's attention.

"Hey, let's go we're now boarding." He held my hand at sabay kaming nagtungo sa gate.

Nang makapasok na kami sa eroplano ay agad kong hinanap ang upuan namin and I'm vey happy to be seated next to the window.

I heard a shutter so I turned around to see Ryland taking a picture of me while I was staring outside the window waiting for the plane to take-off.

"You're so beautiful," he whispered.

I closed the distance between us and leaned my head on his shoulder. Then I took out my phone and turn the front cam.

"Smile!" Sabi ko pero muntik ko ng mahulog ang cellphone ko nang dumampi ang labi niya sa pisngi ko kasabay ng pagclick ko sa aking cellphone.

I blinked twice, he got my phone from me and slowly the side of his lips rose.

"Ang cute mo talaga kapag nagugulat ka at nanlalaki ang maliit mong mata." He chuckled and slightly pinched my nose.

Ngumuso ako at inayos ang buhok kong naka braid sa dalawa.

"I really miss staring at your face," he said huskily and intertwined our hands. Naging maliit ang kamay ko kapag ito'y kaniyang hinahawakan.

Hindi ako nakasagot sa kaniya dahil nag-aanounce na ang purser sa harap at magte-take off na ang eroplano.

We stayed silent for a few minutes until we're smoothly flying above the clouds. Nakasandal pa rin ako sa kaniyang balikat habang nilalaro niya ang aking mga kamay.

He moved a little and took something inside his pockets. Inilabas niya ang locket na ibinigay ko sa kaniya noon. Naroon pa din ang aking litrato.

"Ito ang pinanghahawakan ko sa bawat misyon ko. Sa bawat panganib na tatahakin ko, I pray to be safe so that I could see you again when the time comes." Hinaplos niya ang picture ko sa locket. I am at the verge of crying, I bit my lower lip and hugged him from his waist.
