Kabanata 21 : Gone

I woke feeling tired and numb. Malagkit ang aking pisngi dahil sa natuyong luha. Memories of last night were still so vividly painted on my mind.

I moved a bit but the excruciating pain in ny head made me stop moving. I remembered that we jumped off the building's 4th floor. Shards of broken glasses were on my face as I can remember.

Inabot ko ang salamin na nasa gilid ng table. I got little cuts from the glasses and a bandage over my head. Ngayon ko lang napansin na nalagyan ng bandage ang aking braso.

I started to think about Ryle's condition again. With the thought na ganito ang nangyari sa akin, baka doble pa sa kaniya. He can't move when we fell on the car's roof and he lost a lot of blood.

I tried to stand up but my legs are wobly that I don't have enough energy to move or walk.

Izla barged into the room and went to me. It looks like she just cried. Inalalayan niya akong bumalik sa kama at kinuha ang isang arm sling at ipinasuot sa akin bago ko ipinatong ang aking kamay.

"Ate Ailee is still on the operating room. She's operating some of your co-officers." She said while handing me a glass of water. Namumula ang mga mata ni Izla.

"Did you... got to see Ryle?" My eyes began to water. She bit her lip and turned her gaze away from me. Silence ruled us both that I could almost hear my thumping heart.

"Izla, please. For my peace of mine, did you see him? How is he going?" I begged until I cried again. I can't contain what I'm feeling, parang ako nanaman ang may kasalanan kung may mangyari man sa kaniya. I donnt want to lose my boyfriend.

"Ate... Kuya Savior is still in the operating room. H-he lost a lot of blood. Both of you are unconscious the moment they saw you on the car's roof. And I think he hit his head and it cause and imapct until now... wala pa ding malay." I didn't hit my head because I landed on his arm. I cried over and over again. I wanna see him so bad.

"What if I'll lose him, Izla?" I said while stiffling my sobs. Izla just hugged me tighter that I can hear his little sobs.

"Kuya Ryland is a brave man. I know he will survive, he can't leave you just yet." So Izla knew about our relationship. Funny how it seems na wala pa kaming isang buwan ay may ganito ng nangyari.

"I can't afford to lose him, Izla. I don't want someone to die for me, para na rin kasi akong pinapatay. I don't want someone to die for me again.

"Take a rest and I'll update you if the operation is done." She said before leaving me alone again.

It was quiet for the next minutes so I dozed off to sleep. When I woke up a nurse is checking my vitals and ate Ailee entered the room looking at me in the eyes.

"Her vitals are now stable, Doctora." The nurse politely said before going out of the room.

"I'm happy that you're okay." She said to me. Funny how we talk to each other in the same place but times apart.

"How's Ryle?" I asked again. Hanggang ngayon hindi pa din ako napapanatag sa kalagayan niya. "Is he stable now?" I sighed as I calm myself and preventing myself to breakdown again.

"The operations are successful but... he's still unconscious. You all will be move to the camp's hospital." She answered. Alam ko namang halos lahat kami ay matinding nag dinanas dahil sa pagtalon sa building.
