Maliwanag. Pagkadilat ng aking mga mata ay purong puti ang aking nakikita.

I can hear the machine and I know how a hospital smells. Hindi ko maigalaw ang aking katawan. Namamanhid ako na tipong paggalaw ng aking daliri ay hindi ko maramdaman.

May nakapasak na nasal cannulae sa aking ilong para maging stable ang aking paghinga. My eyes felt tired again and I got pulled back into a deep slumber.

After how many hours again, I opened my eyes and saw a nurse checking my vitals.

Nang makita niyang gising na ako ay dali dali niyang pinindot ang intercomm at nagtawag ng doctor.

That was when I remembered why I am in the hospital.

Gunshots, explosions, blood... and Ryland. Bumilis ang aking paghinga kaya naman nataranta ng bahagya ang nurse.

"Where's Ryland?" Mahina kong tanong kaya napakunot ang noo ng nurse. She put the board down and checked my eyes.

"Ma'am stay still po, parating na po si Doctora." She said softly but my heartbeat became fast as fear slowly crept on me.

"Ma'am you're lucky po at may nagligtas sa inyo." I am at the verge of crying. I stared at the nurse. Walang salita ang makalabas sa aking bibig.

"He saved you and your baby."

Tila natigil ako sa paghinga. B-baby? I'm pregnant?

"He's such a noble soldier, Ma'am. He risked his lif—" bumangon ako kasabay ng pagpasok ng isang tao sa loob, si Zea.

"Rydelle, please lie down." Mahinahon niyang sabi. Paulit-ulit akong umiling, I grabbed her arm and pulled it.

"Zea, where's Ryle? Please... tell me he's safe! Please!" I have a hint but I don't want to conclude and mostly I can't accept it.

"Rydelle..." umiwas ng tingin si Zea bago bumuntong hininga. Napatutop sa bibig niya ang nurse, Zea motioned the nurse to go out.

"You're three weeks pregnant, good thing your baby is safe. Nadaplisan ka lang naman and your baby is strong, Rydelle." She weakly smiled. I'm pregnant but... where's Ryland?

"Z-zea, asaan si Ryland? C-can I see him?" Sunod-sunod na bumagsak ang aking luha. Natatakot ako, I can't... I just can't... napahagulhol ako at agad naman akong inalo ni Zea.

"I'm so sorry, Rydelle." She sighed and hugged me tightly.

No... please... don't tell me he's... gone.

Nagpaulit ulit sa aking isipan ang sinabi ng nurse kanina.

"He saved you and your baby."

"He saved you and your baby."

"Please, can you take me to him?" My voice cracked. Zea looked at me with sadness in her eyes. She sighed again and stood up to call someone.

"Magpahinga ka muna sandali, I'll be back in a few." She said and went out of the room.

Just like Zea said, she helped me get out of the bed and helped me sit on a wheelchair. Tinulungan din akong makasakay sa backseat ng kaniyang kotse.

I know I still have a wound at dapat hindi pa ako gumagalaw masiyado dahil na rin buntis ako. I just... want to see him badly.

Zea said that I'm asleep for three days at matindi niya akong pinagsabihan dahil itinakas niy lamang ako. I am a bit recovering and it wouldn't hurt me and my baby if we get out of the hospital for a bit.
