"mommy!" emma shrieked as she saw jade standing at the front of her school, then running up to her.
catching emma in her arms, jade had felt like emma was her own.
"how was school?" jade asked.

"it was fun." emma said blankly but this caught jade's attention.
"are you sure? you seem upset, em."
emma nodded and the two interlocked hands as they walked to jade's parked car.

jade let emma buckle herself in then putting her keys in the ignition, she glanced down at her phone to see messages from zion.
she shook her head and let the thoughts of him leave her head.
"let's go visit daddy at work, sound good em?"
"yeah!" she replied, excited to see her dad.

on the way to brandon's work, jade started receiving multiple calls from zion.
again, ignoring them. she parked in the parking garage, then helping emma out of the car. walking into the building, jade admired the beauty of the interior. the marble tiles catching her gaze. from the flooring to the detail on the ceiling, the two were immediately greeted by the front desk.

"hello i'm devin, how may i help you today?"
jade carried emma in her arms, "i'm looking for brandon arreaga."
the man looked back down at his desk then said, "down this hall and it's the first door on the left."

jade followed where he had said, "ready to see daddy?" she whispered to emma.
emma looked up at her excitedly raising her head. she knocked on the door and was greeted by nick, who she'd seen before when brandon was leaving for napa.
"hey jade." he smiled.
"hey, is brandon here? em wanted to pay him a little visit." she replied putting emma down.
nick looked back inside the office and nodded,
"yeah come in."

emma ran in going to greet her dad, jade walked in watching the moment.
nick had given jade a hug, not bothered jade had hugged him back.
"how've you been?" nick asked.

"really good, brandon and i are like official?"
"you sound unsure." he chuckled.
jade's phone rang once again, she rolled her eyes as she read zion's contact.
"you should answer it." nick said, patting her shoulder.

she walked down the hallway and hesitated to answer the call, taking a breath before putting the phone up to her ear.
"jade? you there?" she hummed in response to zion.

"i was wondering if you wanted to come to the beach with me and my friends, it'll be fun."
"uhm..." she looked down the hall at brandon's door, then sighed.
"yeah, i'll come for sure. can you pick me up? then we can go back to my house so i could change and get a few things?"
"of course, send me the address. i'm on the way."

zion parked close to the beach and opened jade's door for her.
the two walked in the sand as zion was looking for his friends, he looked down at his phone then looked up.
"come, i know where they are." zion grabbed her hand.

there was a canopy blocking the sun and a couple of guys that she didn't recognize.
"you guys this is jade." zion wrapped his arm around her, she was having mild anxiety.

hanging out with people she's never met, could be the slight reason.

"do you want to go to the water?" he whispered.
jade nodded, putting her stuff down.
then taking off her cover up, the boys cheered around until zion shot them a glare.
they ran towards the water and once their feet touched the water, zion picked jade up.

"we're going deeper." he said.
the two slighty trudged through the water as the waves were going past them.
zion was losing grip, so he gripped her thighs and she gasped.
"what?" he chuckled.
"n-nothing."

"when i was younger i used to jump over the waves, but that's impossible."
"why'd you ask me to come?" she asked and zion looked puzzled.
the two were pretty far out in the water, zion looked down at her.
"i asked you to come because i feel like you've been avoiding me, you're always tagging along with that forty-year old."

she rolled her eyes, "z, he's not forty. i'm not always tagging along with him. he doesn't mind me having my own free time."
"he shouldn't mind this either." zion said before crashing his lips on jade's soft ones.

her eyes widened but she couldn't fight it, he was like a drug. his grip on her got tighter, pulling her right against him.
she groaned and zion smiled into their long kiss, the sound of the water crashing in the background.
they pulled away and zion smiled at her, instead of going in for another his lips went under her jaw.
"z, i-i think we should go back now."

he listened almost instantly and started walking back with jade still clung to him.
she rested her head in the crook of his shoulder, but then she felt something poking her thigh.
"uh, z."
"don't worry about it." he brushed it off.

zion's friends didn't acknowledge the two, letting them spend their time together.
they laid on a towel under the canopy, zion wrapping his arms around her.
she felt secure, getting comfortable in his arms then falling asleep.
