"so nick, how's my daughter doing out in LA?"
"she's amazing, just living out her best life and she's just a good person."
her mother looked over at nick and patted his back.

"are you sure you're not together? you talk about her like you are. you guys have the connection like you guys are."
he chuckled, before he could respond jade had already come downstairs.

"good morning," she yawned.
greeting everyone with a hug, as she hugged nick. her mother looked over at nick and pointed at the two, he just pushed it to the side.

"get ready, in a few nick. i'm boutta show you around." she said, with her arms still wrapped around him.

                                •        •       •

"yea this place was hell." she laughed.
"it doesn't look that bad, it just looks like a regular high school." nick said.
the two were sitting in their rental, in the parking lot of jade's old school.

"i was always out here back in the days mainly because i hated this school."
"didn't you have a boyfriend?"
"yeah, he just wasn't someone i thought he was. yet, he was my first everything."

nick's phone started to ring and he got out of the car, leaving jade waiting inside.
she waited, deciding not to listen to his conversation. her door opened and nick appeared, with a look on his face.

"what?" she tried to smile so he would.
"give me your phone, i'm going to power it off."
"okay?" she handed him her phone.
he unbuckled her seatbelt and grabbed her hand, "come out."

he twirled her around and wrapped his arms around her, engulfing her in a hug.
"what's wrong?" jade had asked.
"nothing, you just make me really happy."
he lied.
"nick! tell me what's wrong!"
"do you trust me?" he asked.

"of course, i do."
"then please, don't ask about anything until we get home. i don't want to ruin your day, let's just have fun and spend this day together."
"okay."

they had gotten back to the car and jade drove them to their next location, her favorite coffee shop.
"this was my go to place whenever i wanted to leave the house."
"favorite thing to order?" nick asked.
"iced chai latte, why?"

"i'll be right back then." he left her sitting at a small table then going up to the cashier.
jade was so tempted to check her phone and what was keeping her from having a good day.
nick's was in front of her, but she didn't want to be the type to snoop.

instead, grabbing his phone to take pictures.
she fixed her hair and made a couple of silly faces and a mix of some cute ones.
a notification from austin popped up but before she could read it, nick's phone was snatched out her her hands.

"hey!" she fake pouted.
"these are adorable." he laughed, scrolling and admiring each photo.
"so tell me about yourself, mara."
jade sat up and crossed her legs, placing her interlocked hands on the table.

"you know the basics but i'm from jersey. before business, when i first moved to la i wanted to sing and dance but that really didn't workout for me. i met this girl a while ago her name was lauren, but you know things happen."

"i met brandon and we became good friends, then one day he asks me if i could work with him. i have two brothers and one sister, whom i really only see when i'm in jersey."
he continued.

"tell me more about you, latrell. i only know about you from brandon or the things you've told me so far." he said, mimicking her earlier actions.
"i am not that interesting, i was born and raised here in montana. nerdy girl in high school, dropped out of college. living off of my babysitting job, what's new." she laughed.

"i can get you a really good job, what are you passionate about?"
"i mean i love emma, she's the most brightest and cutest kid i've ever met."
"do you really want to babysit for a long term job?"

she looked down at her hands and thought about her answer.
a guy dropped off both of their drinks at the table, jade had a puzzling look on her face.

"i mean i like kids, you could say but i don't want to work with them. i also don't want to work for brandon."
"yea, i understand. you know jade, you're very pretty."
"thank-"
he didn't let her finish her sentence, "what if you did modeling?"

she let out a chuckle and nick had a serious look on his face.
he wasn't joking?
"i wasn't, i actually know some people that are really good with this stuff. i think you're perfect for it."
"i'll think about it."
