jade walked into the conference room full of people, anxiety grew inside of her.
"ms. latrell, take a seat." one man greeted her with a grin.
as she sat down, the paperwork in front of her stared her down.

this was real.

"so, jade. we'd love to have you here. our company thinks you'd be a great addition to our team." a woman in a suit commented.
"our phone call yesterday was very distinct for a spot here, i see you know mara."

"close friend." jade said, quite quickly.
her nerves felt like they were frozen and she couldn't move, she felt as if she did wrong move that everything would've been gone.

"if you can just sign the contract, we have a deal here jade."
the man at the end of the table crossed his arms, waiting to see jade's actions.
flipping through the pages and reading each section, she picked up the pen.
following through with her signature and all the required information, she signed.

"well, tristan get her upstairs for an intro shoot. keep it light, we don't want her to look fake people!"
the same man ordered, jade followed all the commotion and went wherever this 'tristan' person went.
"uhm, tristan hi. i am jade latrell, i'm nineteen and i guess we are going to be working really well together."

"i don't do this friend thing, sweetheart."
she sassed, grabbing jade's hand as the elevator door opened. instantly getting her ready for the shoot, sitting jade down in a chair.
her cellphone began to ring, jade took it out of her back-pocket.

"hello?"
"babe? jade? hello, where are you?"
it was brandon.
"i'm really busy and i can't talk right now, i'll explain it all later. i promise, give emma a kiss for me." she said, before hanging up.
tristan raised her eyebrows at jade, giving her a little smirk.

"you're the babysitter fiasco?" her tone was quite, bitchy.
"no, no. that's not me-"
"darling, lynn works here too. you think you should've done your research first?"
tristan let out chuckle, jade felt uncomfortable but got up once tristan was finished with her hair and makeup.
"good luck." tristan cackled.

jade slipped on a light flowy dress, it was white with a little bit of sheer lace in the back.
tristan made jade feel like garbage, maybe she was lynn's stylist or friend.
"jade! jade! where are you!" a man called out, she took his attention raising her hand slightly.

not wanting to be anymore of a pincushion to poke at, she decided to keep quiet.
the studio was very nice and had white backdrops, the photographer's assistant was adjusting every position and move jade had done.

"okay, give me a smile, more like welcoming and bright. be the new girl, the one that stands out." the photographer over exaggerated, asking for bigger and better from jade.
she was trying her best, not trying to impress or win anyone over on her first day.

she was the newbie, it was better for her to stay quiet than be a bitch like tristan.
"you're a natural at this jade."
the photographer complimented, making jade chuckle. he had taken more pictures of her while she was chuckling, since she looked more genuine.

she looked over at the door opening and put came lynn, jade turned very timid and her smile went from genuine to forced.
"hey, mario." lynn smiled.
"lynn, i am busy doing art but what do you need?" his hard accent making her having trouble understanding.

she turned her head to jade, locking eyes with her. the photographer motioned his head over to where he and lynn were, so jade got up.
"news about the newbie has been going around so i had to meet her, i don't think we've ever met properly. lynn arreaga."

she held her hand out, and jade shook it.
"jade latrell."
"something tells me we're going to be good friends jade, also i'm sorry about tristan she normally works with me."
jade just grinned and nodded, lynn then looked at the pictures jade just took.

"what a natural, maybe you should shoot with me sometime." she let out a genuine chuckle.
"i'm gonna go."
jade walked away, pointing towards the opposite direction.

"so does brandon know? that you got the job?"
lynn asked, trailing behind jade.
"uhm yea, he's very proud and emma's just kind of sad she can't see me at all times."
"how is emma? is she doing good at school?"
she asked, stepping in the elevator with jade.

"she's the brightest and the sweetest kid i have ever met in my life. lynn i just wanted to ask, why'd you keep brandon's last name?"
"it's fitting, my maiden name wasn't very fitting. when we married, they told me it was a better change for media since he's like a good businessman you know."

lynn didn't seem that bad.

when jade got home at the arreaga house, she laid down on the couch, getting a few minutes of rest.
"mommy!" emma ran over to her and climbed onto the couch, jade sighed.
"i'm very tired, baby. mommy had a very long day." she wrapped her arms around emma.

"hey beautiful." jade heard behind her.
he walked over to the couch next to jade and emma, jade laid in between his legs and rested her head on his abdomen.
"i'm so tired." she yawned.
emma had ran up to her room, figuring out that she should give brandon and jade alone time.
"where were you up to today?"
"nick helped me get this modeling job and i got a meeting with the whole team but i booked the job." she squealed.

"which company?"
"same one as lynn."
brandon just hummed and nodded, jade had turned to face him.
"what's wrong about that?"
"nothing, it's good you got a modeling job but you're all mine." brandon smiled, leaning in to kiss jade.
